Description

This is a deliciously sweary episode, so if explicit language is not your thing, please choose a different interview. But I have to say it’s very juicy. Uma Dinsmore Tuli is a force of nature, a yoga therapist with special expertise in women’s health, mother of three, and has written four books on yoga for women, including the massive Yoni Shakti now in its fourth printing and updated. Uma is co-founder of the Yoga Nidra Network and has developed Total Yoga Nidra, Wild Nidra and Nidra Shakti: radical creative and intuitive approaches to sharing yoga nidra. More recently she’s initiated Yoni Shakti The Movement whose purpose is to Eradicate abuse of women in yoga: take action to reclaim yoga as a tool for planetary healing and justice.  Stitching together our conversation as Uma sewed I asked her about her experience of her menopause so far, about rage and tenderness, about her childhood and of course Yoni Shakti The Movement We talk about:How menopause is stuffed full of opposites – urgency + timelessnessMental health – menopause mood swings from high as a kite to darknessHow we demonise and pathologise these emotionsBeing a menopausal mother to teenage kidsHow nuclear family has been designed to drive women madThe origins of Uma’s activism and how it’s been part of her life How the menopausal rage would not be silencedHow she instigated the campaign to end the abuse of women and girls in yogaHow Intersectional feminism has enabled her to use her anger for goodUma’s self-care for menopauseThe holy combination of tenderness and fierceness as an expression of the deep feminine And of course Uma’s top tip for staying unstuck and vibrant inner life.Support and/or get support from  Yoni Shakti The Movement hereOr the Yoni Shaki The Movement Facebook groupVisit Yoga Nidra Network for free nidras and training in 23 different languages Red School for info on menstrual and menopause leadershipSophie Jane Hardy  (nee Mortimer) fabulous organiser and marketing geniusI'd love to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss, you can message me through Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platfMore information about Katehttps://www.katecodrington.co.uk/Instagram @kate_codringtonSecond Spring: the self-care guide to menopause is available from your favourite bookshopMusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles
