Description

In this episode of The New Old You, Lesley talks with Carol Mooney who supplemented her work life with pursuing a life-long passion, yoga and teacher certification. Carol talks about her decision to put herself first and what benefits yoga brings an individual after 50 or before. Some takeaways include: 1. It doesn't matter your age when you decide to start working toward a direction you've always felt pulled. Your passion doesn't know how old you are.2. Yoga is good for body awareness and a desire to go deeper into your actions. It helps dissolve the suffering in your life as well as gaining clarity.3. The practice of yoga, like any gift, is to be given and shared with other people. And not just with people like ourselves, but others who may not normally have access to it.4. Yoga is a great practice for any stage of life. You can do it at any age. It helps with body awareness, internal focus, along with increasing strength, flexibility, and balance.5. Any yoga is better than none - even 20-30 minutes a day. As we age, movement is key.6. While yoga is an individual, inward practice, it is a nice community activity to do with like-minded people.7. Clarity doesn't have to be at 100% all at once - it's okay to try things out to see if they they fit.8. If you've done right by your kinds, there's nothing more important in your whole life.Carol teaches in person at Yoga East in Louisville, Kentucky and will return after Covid. Yoga East does offer many different types of member-based yoga classes online at https://yogaeast.org/I'm four episodes in and would sincerely appreciate if you would subscribe to the podcast.
