Description

On the podcast this week, Lesley is talking about WHERE to start when you know you need some career clarity. Finding CLARITY is a process and a moving target. It's something you need to be working toward at all times and it is not an end goal. So many people get tripped up at this step. They know they want to make a change, but have no idea what it is or where to look for it. This podcast will lay out 5 steps to help get you started toward finding clarity on which way to go or what to do.Steps include:1.    Don’t freak out – be calm and know you will be taken care of2.    Create your side by side Nature and Nurture lists and see where they intersect. This is your GENIUS ZONE3.    Determine your purpose and who it is you want to serve.4.    Do some self market research – what do other people think you are good at5.    Commit to change. Clarity follows action. It’s time to try some things out.On this podcast I discuss other podcasts as well, including Cathy Heller's "Don't Keep Your Day Job" and Steph Crowder's "Courage and Clarity". I also recommend that if you are looking to make a career pivot - whether in the job market or as an entrepreneur, check out my friend Olivia Jaras. She is an amazing resource. As a former competitive athlete, I understand the importance of consistency when working to reach goals in all areas, while also dealing with these transitions of life. I’ve watched many friends and family struggle, wondering why they can’t stay motivated to be active, eat intentionally, and follow through on commitments they have made to themselves. In my late 40s, I figured out how crucial it was for me to take control of my physical and mental health in order to handle all of the pressures that adult children, aging parents, looming retirement, and weight gain from menopause were throwing at me.
