Description

EPISODE 88 - Clark, Hyung, and John open the show talking about the recent $3.72 million sale of the iconic Honus Wagner T206 baseball card (PSA 1.5) and discuss whether investing in vintage baseball cards is the way to go during this bear market or if the Wagner T206 is in a category of its own.
For this week's Hobby Headlines, the guys go over an ESPN article titled "New York Yankees prospect Jasson Dominguez stars in a bold new world of sports card prospecting" which has quotes from a few key players in the hobby such as high-end collector/investor Shyne150, Ken Goldin of Goldin Auctions, and Jesse Craig from PWCC. They go over some of their quotes in the story and comment on whether they agree with their opinions on the upside (and downside) of prospecting in the hobby.
Then in a new segment called "Target Price," Clark gives Hyung and John a list of five iconic cards that have been trending downwards in value. Then Clark throws out a dollar amount for each GOAT-type card and they debate whether it'll hit that target price within a year. And if it does, the guys answer if they would buy the card at that target price. Some cards discussed include the Mike Trout Topps Update Rookie Card, Luka Doncic Silver Prizm Rookie Card, and the LeBron James Topps Chrome Rookie Card.
Finally, as usual, the show ends with the regular "Pick One" segment where each host names two cards or sets, and then debate which one they would rather invest in. The pairs chosen this week include: Mike Trout 2009 Bowman Chrome Trout Refractor Autograph Card (BGS 9.5/10) vs. LeBron James 2003 Topps Chrome Refractor (PSA 9); Better prospect to collect - Anthony Volpe vs. Jasson Dominguez; Luka Doncic 2018 Prizm Rookie Senstations (sticker auto; PSA 10) vs. Luka Doncic 2018 Optic Orange /199 (PSA 10).
