Description

EPISODE 53 - Clark, Hyung and John quickly weigh in with their opinions on three hobby-related news items off the top of the show including the recent card trimming controversy of the Trevor Lawrence rookie card and the prevalence of trimmed cards in the market. They also touch upon the recent sale of the Lewis Hamilton PSA 7 non-autograph Topps Chrome superfractor and discuss whether the final sale price was too high or a steal. And third, they express their differing opinions on eBay's new authenticity guarantee of graded cards valued at more than $2,000.
The guys then give their hobby predictions on what they think might occur in either the short-term or long-term future. That includes the possibility of Panini Prizm Basketball losing its value due to high population counts of some cards; and how investing in BGS True Gem cards can be a nice investment play for the near-term future.
Then Hyung gives an in-depth talk about the 2022 Bowman Baseball release and the risk (and fun) of chasing prospects. He also compares this set to previously released Bowman Baseball sets in terms of the quality of prospects in each set, and names a few this year of who has great potential to make an impact in the big leagues.
Lastly, the guys get into their weekly Pick One segment (regular edition) with each of them presenting two cards and debating which one is the better investment. The pairs this week include: Mike Trout Bowman Rookie Card vs. Mike Trout Topps Update Rookie Card; Luka Doncic Panini Silver Prizm vs. Patrick Mahomes Optic Holo; and Auston Matthews Young Guns PSA 10 (at $2.3K) vs. Connor McDavid Young Guns PSA 10 (at $3K).
