Description

EPISODE 178 - Clark and Hyung open the show discussing the recent sale of the Babe Ruth 1914 Baltimore News pre-rookie card (SGC 3) for an astounding $7.2 million.
Then they get into Michael Rubin's interview on The Bill Simmons Podcast where he talked about the sports card industry for nearly 16 full minutes.
From the interview, Clark pulled eight quotes/excerpts where Rubin provides some insightful observations since Fanatics got into the collectibles space, which ranged from how the company dealt with the redemption card issue to trying to innovate in the hobby (ie. MLB Debut Patch).
Then the guys reacted to some of Rubin's comments whether they agreed, disagreed, or had anything else to add to them.
Next, in a new segment called "Hobby Impact," they went over some of the recent free agent signing and rumours in MLB including whether Shohei Ohtani signing with the Dodgers or the Blue Jays would be better for the hobby (this podcast episode was recorded before the Ohtani to the Dodgers news).
They also touched on Juan Soto going to the Yankees, and speculation on where Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Cody Bellinger would sign.
Finally, Clark and Hyung play "Pick 1" - the regular weekly segment where each of them pick two cards and then debate which one they'd rather invest in. Hyung put up Shohei Ohtani's Topps Gold rookie card ($2K) vs. Juan Soto's Topps Gold ($1.2K); Clark put up Corbin Carroll's 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card PSA 10 ($850) vs. Gunnar Henderson's 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card PSA 10 ($520).
