EPISODE 169 - Clark and John first open the show talking about the news that some Costco stores are now selling Topps baseball cards again. Is this good for the hobby or are we now entering another junk wax era? They also discuss Tim Duncan's new exclusive multi-year deal to sign basketball cards with Panini America and what it could mean for the value of his new autograph cards.
Moving on to Hobby Headlines, Clark and John discuss the upcoming Sports Card Expo (the largest card show in Canada) in early November and what their strategy is going to the show this year. They also share what they might expect at the expo in light of the current sports card market.
Next, they play a hockey-themed round of Overrated/Underrated focusing on hockey cards such as the 1979 Topps rookie card of Wayne Gretzky, Connor Bedard 1st Draft Pick card in Upper Deck Series 1 and Patrick Roy rookie cards.
Lastly, they play their regular "Pick 1" segment where they are given two players or cards and subsequently debate which one they would rather invest in. Clark uses a submission from a loyal listener (Josh @inspiredsportscards) as his Pick 1 while John puts up a 1st Bowman non-autograph card vs. a non-Bowman 1st autograph card of the same player with the same value.
