Description

EPISODE 139 - Clark, Hyung, and John open the show talking about the iconic Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck rookie card, which is the first card that PSA has graded more than 100,000 cards of. The question is, "Will the PSA 10 maintain its 4% gem rate (and potentially experience a spike in value at any time in the future)?"
For Hobby Headlines, the guys participate in the first podcast Fantasy Sports Card Draft using the top 10 PWCC Most Collected Cards list plus adding five more prominent cards for a pool of 15 total cards to draft from. The winner is the team of five players that delivers the best "return on investment" in value over the next six months (starting from Draft Day to the end of 2023). The ROI will be determined using the CardLadder Index Values. The 15 players to draft from include: Michael Jordan / LeBron James / Tom Brady / Mickey Mantle (CL Value: 8,155) / Kobe Bryant / Luka Doncic / Patrick Mahomes / Babe Ruth / Stephen Curry / Mike Trout / Lionel Messi / Wayne Gretzky / Shohei Ohtani / Tiger Woods / Jackie Robinson.
Then Clark, Hyung and John play another round of Underrated/Overrated with the theme for this episode being types of short-printed (SP) cards such as printing plates, Gatorade image cards, and 2023 Topps Golden Mirror variation cards.
The guys finish the episode off with the regular "Pick One" segment where each host names two cards or sets, and then debate which one they would rather invest in. This week's Pick One included: Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck rookie card (PSA 10 vs BGS 10); Stephen Curry Topps Chrome Refractor rookie card (BGS 9.5) vs. Lebron James Topps Chrome Refractor rookie card (BGS 9.5); and Stephen Curry Topps Gold /2009 rookie card (PSA 7) vs. Stephen Curry Bowman 1948 /2009 rookie card (BGS 9.5).
