Description

Welcome back to another episode of minute Mondays. Every Monday we kick start your week in less than five minutes, where if you don't put it into action, I'm going to come kickstart your shins because I care about you. And I want you to do this, but seriously, it's minute Mondays where the only rules, you better put it into action. So today we're going to get into it. It's a really beautiful one from Theodore Roosevelt. This point it's a quick hit, get grounded, get focused, set your direction for the day, the week. It doesn't matter what day you listen to this. And whenever you need to get grounded again, come back and listen and put it right back into focus, which is actually perfect segue to what today's minute Monday is about. This is a beautiful quote from Theodore Roosevelt in any moment of decision. The best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing. And the worst thing you can do is nothing from Theodore Roosevelt. So as you carry through your week, you are going to be faced with the moments of decisions. Decisions you are going to that are going to drive your business forward, or drive it backwards, drive your life forward, or drive it backwards. But in those moments you have to be grounded. You have to take care of yourself and you have to make sure that you are making a decision that is supportive. You will make decisions. Some of them will not be ideal where you were going to learn lessons. It is only failure if you quit. If you make a decision and the results were not what you expected, you simply reflect and look at it.What worked, what didn't work and what am I going to do differently next time. If you take an action and it works, you still need to reflect and look at  what worked. Was there anything that didn't work and what am I going to do differently next time? And if you find yourself in a moment where all you can do is nothing you need to, you get grounded back into yourself, come back and listen to this episode, call a friend, get away from your computer, go for a five minute walk, physically support your body to make sure that you are always taking an action that is supportive, but stagnation is horrible. And there is a very big difference between being frozen out of fear and doing nothing and intentionally creating space to reflect.  And so in the last episode, I forgot what episode number it was. It was a couple episodes ago. I said there were five books that were non-negotiables for business leaders and all five of those help maintain  this thesis. So everything you're doing is either moving you forward very easily or moving you forward with lessons and learning, but you are never sitting still regressing. And so remember, take this into practice, write this down, write this on a sticky note. Remind yourself in any moment of decision. The best thing you can do is the right thing. The next best thing is the wrong thing. And the worst thing you can do is nothing.  So thank you, you wise Theodore Roosevelt. I wish I could have a cup of coffee with you. And for those of you listening, who I love immensely, take this, put it into practice and crush your week, crush your day, crush this moment if that's how you have to operate and remember take this. Put it into practice and bonus tip. If you want to remember this stuff and you want it to stick the moment you hear something that I say, and it lands for you, write it down, but then go share it, share it with a colleague, share it with an employee, share it with a customer because you teaching it will ingrain it in you to start living it.
