Description

I launched a Facebook group a few weeks ago and it's going well. I'm producing more content and sharing freely with frequent touch points, get decent traction on my live streams. The area of opportunity that I'd love you to answer is how to generate more user generated content within the group. So it's not just me posting.  Well, here's the best part, I don't allow user generated content in my group, if you haven't noticed. Every single one of you that decides to post, which I love, we have to approve. Okay. the reason is because my job is to create the container of your customer journey. My job is to hold the space so that you achieve the desired after state that I promised that you would achieve.  And so in that, the reason that I control the content in this group is so that we know what we're posting. And then we also own the content that day, which gives us the ability to better serve you. Because if I post two videos a day, and that's the only place that you can comment, well, me and my team, Tyler, me, and Richard.  We can dive in and we know that we only have to go to one place to see you, to support you, and to respect you, and we can completely go on this journey with you. Now, this group has 1400 1500 members, and so if I open up the wild West and I let every single one of you post, there is absolutely no way that we can respond and engage with every comment and answer every question like we do.  So the first thing that you want to think about is like what is the purpose of your group and what is the journey that you want to take people on in that group? Now, if you want a community based group and you want a community based content strategy, well then you have to create a container.  You have to set that expectation when they come in the group and you need to make that a requirement of being in the group. Part of being in this group is this, this is what to expect, and this is what we expect. And the reason is, is that you can only take what you equally give, right? And so the goal here is to give, give value, give tips, share it, right?  So you can do that, and then you have to prep them. And then you have to have prompts and you still have to have structure. So if you want people to comment. You literally have to guide them down it. So you have to set themes like, Hey, it's motivation Monday. So every Monday, all of you have to post your best motivational posts.  You know, it's freak out Friday. Everybody posts what you struggle with so hard this week that I can support you with. Right? And so then you still have to maintain the structure and invite them in. Because remember, you're constantly training your customers on how to be your customers. And so if you build it.  And they join it. It doesn't mean they're going to do anything. You still have to lead them. There is no advocation of leadership when it comes to managing social media and especially running a Facebook group. And so for me, the reason I keep it like this is it's like, Oh, well I want user generated content and I want more community focused.  And so if I do that, and right now I go do a post right now and I could do this when we're done and do a post. What's your number one best tip for eliminating anxiety? And 20 to 40 of you would comment with your best tips, links to YouTube videos and quotes. And then I could literally take each one of those and post those as a new post in the group.  Now I'm still getting user generated content. I'm still getting community engagement, but I'm also doing it in a manner where we can support and control that journey. So it's not just the wild, wild West and it's not just noise because content without structure is noise. Content without structure and accountability is noise.  Our commitment is we help people achieve their goals, which means there has to be a very clear path for them to follow. There has to be a roadmap or a blueprint or a set of GPS instructions so that they can get there.
