Classic Marinara Sauce
Ingredients:
● 2 tablespoons olive oil
● 1 onion, finely chopped
● 3 cloves garlic, minced
● 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
● 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
● 1 teaspoon dried oregano
● 1 teaspoon dried basil
● 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
● 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
● Salt and black pepper to taste
● 1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity) Instructions:
Sauté Aromatics:
Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Add Tomatoes:
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes with their juices. Stir to combine.
Season:
Add dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well to incorporate the seasonings into the sauce.
Simmer:
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The longer it simmers, the richer the flavors will become.
Adjust Consistency and Seasoning: If the sauce is too thick, you can add a little water to achieve your desired consistency. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt, pepper, or a touch of sugar to balance the acidity of the tomatoes.

Let the sauce cool slightly before serving. It can be used immediately or stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for later use.

● 2 cups heavy cream
● 2 cups Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
