    Day 1

The team was hard at work to prevent any surprise attack from the so-called Warden. We had an army from Minerland with its officer, twenty-eight Nether Dragons led by Krop and his trusty assistant, D’vart. We also had Johansson and Beatriz, who were some of the best fighters out there, along with Peter and myself.

Even though Peter and I were not the most qualified to take on a battle and help fight the Wardens, we could still pack a punch with our crossbows; however, I was hoping the Wardens would never show up.

This has to be one of the most terrifying moments in my life. Peter said. Just being here and waiting for the Wardens to show up, not knowing exactly what they look like and what they are capable of… it’s truly a horrendous feeling. Peter didn’t feel like fighting at all, but he knew he had to.

I know what you mean, Peter. I wish we didn’t have to be here but it’s not like we have much of a choice. The whole world is in grave peril now. You heard what that Evoker Val said. I replied. We must stand up and fight, otherwise everything will be gone for good.

I know, but… I just can’t help but feel powerless when faced against those beasts. I mean, Val did mention how dangerous the Wardens are. Do you really think the Wardens are stronger than Nether Dragons and even Withers? Because if they are, then we are in deep trouble, Peter added.

After talking to the soldiers, Johansson joined Peter and myself in our conversation.

I don’t think there is a creature capable of defeating our forces. We have the best team in this world. Nether Dragons, humans and even Piglins equipped with the finest crossbows. We can do this. Johansson replied.

Well, I’m certainly flattered by your consideration of our strength in this battle. But I hardly believe we can even make a dent in those Wardens! Peter laughed.

Any help is more than welcome, Peter. Beatriz said joining our conversation.

Krop and D’vart had tasked D’sort, D’zar and D’fort to lead the Nether Dragons in the Overworld as they at times leave the Overworld to oversee things in the Nether.

The human soldiers were busy practicing their daily drill for the big battle. When all of sudden, something startled the group. A fissure erupted from the hole, releasing a powerful pressure. Hot air came out of the entrance, and everyone backed away from the area.

Attention everyone, something is happening at the entrance! The Officer warned the group.

What is happening? Are the Wardens coming out? Johansson wondered.

Be prepared, everyone! D’vart said. The Wardens might have decided to come out now. Our time has come. We must fight and keep the Wardens at bay!

The earth trembled. The fissure opened a crater and suddenly the blocks were sucked in and vanished amidst the hole. It was impossible to see anything inside, but we knew there was something coming. We could feel it…

Be careful now. Once the Wardens come out, we cannot give them a chance to fight back. We must fight and take them down immediately. Krop advised.

Good point. Get ready, guys! Johansson said.

Everyone armed up to the teeth and approached the entrance. Time seemed to slow down almost to a complete stop. The seconds passed by slowly. There was complete silence as everyone watched the fissure closely and waited for the Wardens to reveal themselves to the world.

    And then…

Watch out! They are coming! The Officer shouted.

Four black creatures came out of the hole. They jumped out in a similar motion and charged upwards in a single leap. The Nether Dragons were the first to attack the Wardens before they could even step on the ground.

Charge! D’sort ordered. All Nether Dragons in the vicinity attacked except for D’zar, D’sort, D’fort, D’vart, and Krop. However, the four Wardens packed quite a punch – they easily dispatched the Nether Dragons with a single punch each. The Nether Dragons came after the Wardens, but one by one were defeated in midair.

The Nether Dragons laid on the ground unconscious. The Wardens finally landed and stepped on the ground for the first time.

Twenty-five of my best Nether Dragons defeated by only four Wardens. This is impossible! D’sort exclaimed.

So, the legends are true. They really are stronger than anything! Krop said.

The four black, tall and muscular creatures stood up and looked around. They did not look dangerous at all, but we could feel a powerful energy emanating from them.

Don’t let them come anywhere near us! Charge them soldiers! The Officer ordered.

It was time for the humans to give it a try. The soldiers were equipped with some of the fanciest armor and weapons, which were more than enough to swiftly destroy a Wither in mere seconds.

We must help them too! Come, D’vart! Krop went in to assist the soldiers, and D’vart joined him shortly afterwards.

Right! We can do this! D’vart replied.

Come Beatriz, let’s help them! Johansson stepped in and joined the fray with his daughter.

The Wardens did not move a muscle but seemed to be aware of their surroundings. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they were blind, as the Evoker had told us.

The army was the first to make direct contact with the Wardens, slashing and hacking away with their strong swords. But the Wardens didn’t seem to feel any pain. With a single punch, a Warden completely destroyed the Netherite Armor of one of the soldiers, launching him some 30 meters away, where he de-spawned.

The other soldiers suffered the same fate. No one stood a chance against the unimaginable strength of the Wardens. D’vart and Krop tried to prevent their counterattack, but the Wardens had little to no trouble in defeating them as well.

D’vart took a right punch to the face and fainted. Krop went after the Warden and managed to bite its head. The Warden did not react. Instead, it simply punched Krop’s throat, who dropped to the ground in pain.

This is impossible. Where is all this strength coming from? Krop asked.

Johansson and Beatriz came to help, attracting the Warden’s attention to them. They protected Krop while he recovered from the attack. Beatriz swung her sword at the Warden, going straight for its head. The Warden did not move – her sword broke on impact with the monster!

Impossible! My Diamond sword was broken immediately! Beatriz said.

Johansson attacked the same Warden with his sword in an attempt to protect Beatriz. The Warden brushed him off with a single punch as well. Beatriz kneeled and checked on his father laying unconsciously on the ground.

Dad, please get up! We need your help! We cannot fight them without you!

The Warden came from behind and knocked Beatriz out.

Peter and I watched in horror as all of our friends lost the battle right before our eyes. The four Wardens did not break a sweat during the battle. They had barely used any of their strength, and there was nothing we could do to stop them.

Calvin, what do we do now? We are doomed! Peter screamed.

We do not stand a chance against those monsters. Look what they did to everyone else. They utterly destroyed everyone without much effort, using only one hand. We can’t do anything to stop them now. I replied.

The Wardens heard our conversation and started walking in our direction. They had a good awareness of their surroundings and could hear everything clearly.

Despite having the opportunity to run away, I froze in place. Peter didn’t feel like escaping either; he was too
