CHAPTER THREE

Sophie and I had gone fishing. It was a fairly normal thing that we did once a week, she doing most of the work and I assisting. She was able to catch fish with a combination of nets and spearing. Despite her size, she was incredibly fast, so it was easy for her to catch fish with her lightning fast reflexes.

I had been looking for a place to relieve myself and apparently wandered a little too far. I took a wrong turn on my way back and stepped into a clearing with a mama rhino and her two babies.

I did what I was supposed to do. I avoided eye contact and started to slowly back away. This did not seem to appease the mama rhino. She began to huff and stomp her feet. I knew she was about to charge, and there was no way that I could outrun her.

Within seconds, she was charging at me at full speed and all I could do was stand and watch in horror. My whole life flashed before my eyes. I had never been so certain this was the end.

All of a sudden, my view of the rhino was blocked by an incredibly muscular back. Sophie had somehow found me and had jumped between me and the rhino. Her enormous muscles were tensed and ready for action, but I thought it was impossible that she could stop this rampaging beast.

Sophie, no! I cried out in panic. I was
