    Introduction

    Hello‌ ‌everyone!‌ ‌I’m‌ Megan Caper‌ ‌and‌ ‌this‌ ‌is‌ ‌Taking on Trauma: Unconventional Tools for Healing‌ ‌a ‌course‌ ‌from‌ ‌Scribd‌.‌ ‌Thank‌ ‌you‌ ‌for‌ ‌joining‌ ‌me.‌

Depression; anxiety; hopelessness. We live in a beautiful world; and yet, these struggles color the experience of so many people out there. Many of us try and try, but can’t seem to find a way out. I’m here with you today to share a different approach to healing.

In addition to my work as an energy healer and spiritual coach, I, myself, am in the ongoing process of healing from C-PTSD, or Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

C-PTSD has similar characteristics to PTSD but there are some marked differences. While PTSD happens as a result of a one-time or shorter duration traumatic event, like serving on active duty in a war zone or a surviving a physical attack, C-PTSD occurs when people experience trauma from experiences such as ongoing childhood neglect or abuse, domestic abuse, or living in a war-torn or extremely impoverished region for more than one year.

My C-PTSD stems from growing up in a dysfunctional family. And so: I’ve learned a thing or two about healing. In addition to conventional tools for trauma recovery, such as therapy and medication, I have found other, more unconventional tools that have helped me immensely in my journey.

This course is an overview of my favorite tools and practices that I’ve found over the last 30+ years of healing myself and others.

Throughout the four units in this course, we’ll be talking about the power of becoming present, the practice of shadow work, how to nurture your relationship with yourself, and how to release responsibility
