The Art and Science of Mountain Biking & Road bike Cycling - Sam Humphries
Introduction
I love biking!
It lets me take instant adventures anywhere I want! It gives me a sense of freedom and connectedness with nature and the world that no motorized vehicle can give me. You feel like every inch you traveled was earned by sweat!
It's a way to explore the world in visceral terms. It gives you that sense of speed while being grounded on the earth, unlike a motorized vehicle where you don't feel the ground as much –as if you're playing a video game. With cycling, you can pick ANY direction and GO! There are almost no limits, as a bike can go almost anywhere! Is the terrain proving too difficult? We just leave the bike somewhere safe, proceed on foot, and still get to enjoy the area.
There are no traffic jams to worry about. Bikes are traffic-proof!
If you can walk it? A bike can probably work there too.
The way you feel about yourself and how you take care of your health can play a big part in your happiness, self-esteem, and self-image. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle includes working out. It can be achieved through various physical activities, including walking, jogging, swimming, lifting weights, etc.
We can add one more physical activity to this list, although they all have similar effects. Some may find it interesting, while others may not. It is an activity you may enjoy because the sport requires some physical exertion that would benefit your body. Furthermore, it provides a chance for intergenerational conversations. It is a sport played on two wheels and can offer long-term and short-term benefits.
Cycling is an excellent example of this physical activity. If you treat the sport as a lifelong endeavor, you have made a significant step forward for yourself. Cycling is a low-impact aerobic exercise that offers a wealth of benefits. It also varies in intensity, so it's suitable for all levels. In addition to various benefits, it is possible to ride solo, with family members of all ages, with friends, or even to compete.
There is a dual meaning behind biking for life. It is a sport you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Contrary to what most people believe, regular involvement in it can help you live longer, happier, and healthier. Whether the world was your backyard or across the country, who wouldn't want to lose extra fats and see the world simultaneously?
Cycling has grown tremendously as a sport in the past decades. Depending on where you live, stationary bikes have helped too. They are ideal for indoor riding when the weather does not cooperate. You can also watch the world go by at 32 degrees or below when the temperature is that low.
Stationary bikes or even actual bikes on trainers are a tremendous advantage for those who like to multitask. You can ride one while reading a book or watching a movie in your basement.
Our bikes allow us the freedom and courage to ride around our neighborhood, the store, etc. Bikers often talk about snatching a ride or letting their bikes fly down the road. It's just you, the road, and those white and yellow lines that separate you from the rest of the traffic. Getting on a bike is the antidote.
There is no better way to learn how to ride a bike than to actually ride a bike. Even if you improve to a certain point, you will most likely remain well below your potential unless you are pushed to the brink of failure or receive specific guidance.
Bike safety depends on many factors, such as the type of riding and whether it is for exercise or off-road. The most important thing is that you understand First Aid and know how to apply it correctly. As a precaution, you should have some basic first aid supplies like adhesive bandages and alcohol in your kit in case of an accident. Always keep an emergency bike kit on hand. Keep it in a small bag that can be attached to the back of your bicycle. The same goes for BIKE FIRST-AID kits and tools too! In case you puncture your wheels, or extra batteries and bike lights if you don't get home in time. Our group rides require bike interiors and an air pump as a bare minimum to go on long rides.
Along with those items, you also have a water bottle with you to
