Improve Your Health With Wheatgrass and Grains - Rajeev Sharma

    WHEATGRASSH-A POTENT

    PROPHYLACTIC AND

    MEDICINAL SUBSTANCE

    CHLOROPHYLL

Many leading dieticians consider wheatgrass as a universal remedy on the earth. Which arc the ingredients that make it such an ideal and most sought after remedy for a variety of ailments?

There are many nutritious and prophylactic ingredients contained in it. It contains all the minerals essential for our body. It also contains vitamin A 18,000 IU/100 g, vitamin C 100 mg/100 g, vitamin B, E, K and Laetrile-B, etc. Besides these, it also contains carbohydrates, proteins and fat. Many cancer patients have been cured with Laetrile. But the most vital ingredient of the wheatgrass is chlorophyll. This ingredient is contained in a special type of cells called chloroplasts. Chloroplasts produce nutritious elements with the help of sunlight. Therefore a research scientist like Dr. Bursher calls it ‘concentrated solar energy’. In fact, chlorophyll is a substance that is present in all the green plants. But wheat grass is perhaps the best source for obtaining plenty of chlorophyll.

We all know that human blood contains a substance called haemoglobin. Haemoglobin contains hemin. From the view point of chemical formation, there are a lot of similarities between hemin and chlorophyll. In both of them, the arrangement and the number of hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen molecules are almost similar. There is only one little difference between the constitutions of hemin and chlorophyll i.e., magnesium is in the centre of chlorophyll molecules while in the centre of the hemin molecules we find iron. Magnesium found in the protons of chlorophyll is essential and beneficial for about 30 enzymes of our body. In the light of this fact, Dr. Wigmore calls wheat grass ‘green blood.’ Dr. Hans Miller calls wheat grass ‘natural protons producing blood.’

The constitution of our blood is bit alkaline. The proportion of hydrogen molecules (pH) in it is 7.4. Similarly, wheat grass is also alkaline and its pH is also 7.4. And that is the reason why wheatgrass is quickly absorbed in the blood and is therefore beneficial to our body.

It is perfectly logical to surmise that wheatgrass should cure anaemia (a state of body in which the haemoglobin percentage drops) as the chemical formation of hemin found in human blood and chlorophyll is similar. Some experiments were conducted to verify the validity of such a surmise. What follows is a brief account of the findings of such experiments.

Dr. Kohlar carried out some experiments on rabbits, rats and guinea pigs. He took a few guinea pigs and divided them into two groups. To the first group, he gave normal diet without the wheatgrass. And to the second group he gave the wheatgrass besides the normal diet. After some time it was noted that growth and development were faster in case of the second group taking the wheatgrass. Their haemoglobin count had also shot up.

Dr. Hughes and Dr. Later carried out some experiments on rabbits. They took out some blood from bodies of rabbits in order to make them anaemic. The quantity of blood taken out was in such a quantity that the haemoglobin count would drop by about 40%. Then the rabbits were divided into two groups. The first group was given normal diet besides some chlorophyll mixed with oil; while the other group was given the normal diet mixed with oil alone (without mixing it with the chlorophyll). After about a fortnight their blood test was carried out. Findings of the blood test revealed that the anaemic condition of the rabbits of the first group had been cured while there was not any significant change in the condition of the rabbits of the second group. Those who had conducted this experiment reached a conclusion that in case of those rabbits who had been given chlorophyll, it was transformed into hemin and consequently they were cured of their anaemic condition.

Encouraged by the results of this experiment, many other physicians have successfully employed wheatgrass therapy for curing many of their patients of anaemia. Dr. A. J. Pattack once tried wheatgrass therapy on a group of 15 patients suffering from chronic hypochromic anaemia. Generally such patients do not respond to conventional remedies. But Dr. Pattack put those patients on a strictly vegetarian diet. Along with it, he gave them chlorophyll through wheatgrass and alfalfa juice. Within a few days their condition began to improve dramatically. Their fatigue and breathlessness soon disappeared and they began to feel energetic. Their blood-test report showed a dramatic improvement in their haemoglobin percentage.

Physicians like Dr. Miller, Dr. Burgey, Dr. Wigmore and others have admitted that wheatgrass juice is an effective remedy for anaemia. They also noted that along with wheatgrass juice if the patient survives only on the raw diet, the results are faster and better.

Chlorophyll is a potent germicidal substance. It destroys certain types of germs that are responsible for spreading certain diseases and paralyses, and some others germs that are equally dangerous for us.
