About this ebook

Meditations for Stress Management is a compilation of some of my favorite guided visualizations and meditations. I have used and continue to use these exercises as resources to help reduce and manage my own stress levels. I find that doing so not only increases my immune function so that I don’t get sick as often (or have bouts associated with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) but that this practice also strengthens my resolve in handling difficult situations, problem solving, and staying focused on the task at hand.

I find that doing so not only increases my immune function so that I don’t get sick as often (or have bouts associated with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) but that this practice also strengthens my resolve in handling difficult situations, problem solving, and staying focused on the task at hand.

It is a commonly held belief that stress is event based. That something happens during the day or over a specific period of time (your boss yelling at you, a looming deadline, or an argument with your significant other) that causes stress, emotional distress actually. This is akin to the survival (fight or flight) based stress our ancestors would have experienced. Essentially, something happens, we react, the situation is resolved, and everything goes back to normal.

The problem is that in our modern society, we never really get back to any semblance of normal. These days, our bodies and minds never really get the time they need to readjust back to a healthy balance. Our normal is constant diligence, waiting for
