Introduction

This book is a comprehensive training manual for Level One of Usui Reiki Ryoho (pronounced Uw-Sou-E Ray-Key Ro-Ho). Usui Reiki Ryoho is the traditional form of Reiki based upon the original teachings of Master Mikao Usui (pronounced Me-Cow Uw-Sou-E). This variation of healing and its methodologies are the foundational teachings for the majority of the other types of Reiki. Although there are four levels of training to reach the Usui Reiki Ryoho Master Level, any student may carry out Reiki sessions after taking this first level course.

Included with this text are the first level attunement; general background and information on traditional Reiki methodologies; and instructions on how to perform simple hands on Reiki sessions (including self healings). Upon completion of these readings and with diligent practice, you will become a competent Reiki practitioner who is able to confidently conduct simple hands on sessions for clients and undertake self healings.

All trained Reiki practitioners are asked to consult their local authorities about specific licensing regulations and other legalities of practicing energy work in their area.

There are no prerequisites for this instruction. No previous knowledge of Reiki or innate healing ability is necessary to complete this level of study or to practice Reiki in general. Moreover, the successful practice and use of Usui Reiki Ryoho does not require faith in the success of this work or particular beliefs in any sort of supernatural or spiritual convictions. Everyone has the ability to learn, use, and benefit from these energies no matter what their age, belief system, or natural healing talents.

This course is intended to serve as an introductory training method for the traditional form of Reiki, Usui Reiki Ryoho. This text will not cover other Reiki variations or advanced topics such as complex hands on procedures, scanning, chakra balancing, distant healing methods, and healing sessions using symbols.
