Life before Meditation
Waking up and scrolling through Facebook, eating a fast breakfast that doesn’t serve your body may not feel harmful at the time, but if by the end of the day you feel drained, scattered, and overloaded with daily hassles that you just don’t have time for, then I guarantee your morning routine is the reason why.
I remember what it was like to set my alarm clock for an hour and a half early before I had to go to work just to hit the snooze button 20 times only to end up with about 15 minutes left to fly out of bed, get dressed and rush out the front door. I’d be dozing off throughout my morning and by 2pm I felt like I had been hit by a train with the stress and anxiousness of just trying to keep up.
I would pick arguments with my co-workers, and people I loved. I didn’t think about the decisions I was making and found every reason to be mad at someone else for why I made them. I would forget, and find myself disoriented when dealing with simple tasks, like remembering to put gas in the car, ALL throughout the day.
Eventually, I just got tired all together, so I hired a professional Organizer to help me get control of just one room in my house, my bedroom, and it changed my life. She suggested that I keep only the things that I used on a daily basis, had meaning to me, and made me feel good. She also suggested that I meditate, and learn how to speak positivity into my life so that letting go of the extra clutter would come easier to me, materialistically and emotionally. Thanks to her advice, my whole world has changed.
Benefits of Meditating
According to research, practicing meditation may reduce blood pressure, symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Meditating may even boost your mood as much as running does!
Meditation sharpens your attention and helps you feel more focused. Researchers have found that meditation helps to counter habituation, which is the tendency to stop paying attention to new information in our environment.
Studies have even shown that improved attention seems to last up to five years after mindfulness training, suggesting trait-like changes are possible. So, meditating in the morning helps your mind get ready to tackle any apprehensive tasks you may have
