    The Paleo Diet

    Archivore, Caveman diet, and Stone Age Diet are only few of the names associated with Paleo Diet. However, Paleolithic Diet is commonly known as ‘the Paleo’ diet. This diet is based on the eating lifestyle of pre-agricultural or Paleolithic humans. It mimics the eating habits of humans who lived 10,000 years ago where they ate foods like meat, vegetables, leaves, and other plants. These foods are considered to be the kind of foods that people should eat.

    However, when agriculture became mainstream and the arrival of grains, corns, and rice became more prominent, the food consumption of people changed. Nevertheless, although the eating lifestyle evolved, the human body didn’t actually change that much. That is why eating too much of carbohydrates can cause different health issues like obesity, overweight, and heart attack. All these diseases are the reason why health buffs went back to the old eating lifestyle – way, way back to the Paleolithic era where blood is just pure blood and not overflowing with sugar: where people die because of wild animals, accidents, or old age and not because of fat accumulation in the major organs inside the body.

    Blame agriculture

    Food may be much more available now and in abundant amounts because of agriculture. But it also presented a lot of foods that people haven’t adapted to, genetically. After the introduction of farming just a few thousand years ago, our ancestors transformed from hunter-gatherers to farmers. They didn’t have to move around anymore just to find food, so they settled down and formed societies.

    The foods we eat now have become very much different from what we used to eat fifteen thousand years ago. During that time, we have gotten so skilled and so adapted with the diet and the lifestyle for thousands of years. The dawn of agriculture and the introduction of new food sources, like grains and grain products like pasta, bread, corn, and others, have shocked our system and may have introduced a lot of diseases and resistance to foods.

    What were not in our ancestors’ diet?

    Basically, grains. Recent studies report that grains may include substances, called ‘food toxins’ that may elicit a negative response from most people. Grains are actually composed of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are converted into
