About this ebook

In every locker room, before every championship game, the Coach delivers the same pep talk. He looks deeply into each player's eyes and asks, "How much do you want this win?"

I'm asking you that same question now.

How much do you want to put an end to yo-yo dieting? How much do you want to lose the weight once and for all and never think about dieting again? What would it mean to you to look in the mirror and love, not just like, but love the person you see there…every single day?

Now…how hard are you willing to work to make that happen?

Top-tier athletes often talk about "being in the zone." They've learned to filter out distractions and concentrate on one thing. Hours and hours of practice have prepared them to capitalize on every opportunity and they know what to do when they get their hands on the ball.

I want to help you develop that same level of personal strength and self confidence, and the keys to achieving that goal are "time" and "focus". There are no short cuts.

In her book, No Mo'Yo-Yo, writer, Karyn Robinson shares her experience of chasing the same 25 pounds up and down the scale for 50 years and the story of the magical year that changed her yo-yo life forever.

An inspirational and honest account of what it takes to effect permanent change from the 'inside, out'.

    Preface

Mark Twain once remarked of his efforts to quit smoking, Quitting is easy, I’ve done it hundreds of times. That’s how I used to feel about losing weight. Losing it wasn't difficult, but keeping it off - that was the real problem.

    I was a classic yo-yo dieter.

Each Monday would begin with a renewed dieting effort with the added resolve to lose it once and for all this time. As the pounds dropped off friends would notice and their compliments would lift my spirits and give me the strength I needed to stick with the plan.

Occasionally I’d be motivated by an event, a friend's wedding for example, when I really wanted to look my best. Although I always managed to lose the weight and squeeze into that sexy, little black dress - I regained the weight (and more) before the happy couple even returned from the honeymoon!

They say with age comes wisdom and on my fiftieth birthday I decided that rather than focus on losing weight, I would just make an effort to be the best I could be.

I decided that would encompass more than just losing weight. I worked on strengthening relationships with my family and friends. I even took an improv class to help me deal with my shyness.

I engaged in my regular dieting program but this time when the weight came off - it stayed off! By committing myself to making a permanent change – to simply be the best I could be - I was able to maintain a healthy weight.

    Sounds Easy, Right?

Wrong! That was a very introspective year for me. I gradually became aware of dozens of negative messages I was sending myself many, many times each day.

I learned to tune the negative messages out and focus on more positive thoughts. I discovered how little changes in what I was thinking impacted my efforts to eat right, exercise, and live a happier life.

What I learned during that year is that self-motivation, the motivation that comes from inside and not from other people, is essential to weight management, but it needs to be more meaningful than just the desire to look good at your high school reunion.

I Can’t Help You Diet – But I Can Help You Keep the Weight from Coming Back.

This book does not provide you with a weight loss program. No Mo’ Yo-Yo is something completely different – the inspiration you need to change the way you think and keep those pounds from coming back.

Do you remember learning to ride a bicycle? Think of your effort to maintain a healthy weight as once again learning to ride a bike. The training wheels represent your eating plan - low calorie, low carb, or packaged meals - whatever has helped or is helping you shed the pounds.

The training wheels keep you from toppling over as you gradually learn to balance, but at some point you need to learn to ride on your own. (After all, you can’t have your meals delivered
