Linace Gordon-Coleman B.ED

Linace Gordon-Coleman and Marvin Coleman have been married since 2012 but have known each other since they were six years old. They not only worked together on this book but are also both Evangelists and are passionate about persons living a healthy life of purpose and joy. Linace has always been fat, ever since she was a child. She was called many demeaning names and was mistreated because of her weight by some individuals she encountered. She even dated someone who emotionally and verbally abusive towards her because of her weight. As a result of those experiences, at one point she had low self-esteem and kept wishing she was like other “slimmer persons”. In this book, she gives the secret to her weight loss while sharing her journey of self-acceptance and love. However, her friend and husband Marvin Coleman always treated her with respect and love and never made her feel like she was unimportant because she was fat. In fact, he married her while she was still 240 pounds and helped her to battle her low self-esteem by emphasizing to her how beautiful she was to him. He often told her he loved her for who she was and how beautiful she was inside out despite being overweight. In this book, he wrote a chapter encouraging spouses of overweight persons to be more compassionate, patient and tolerant towards their overweight spouses. He emphasizes the importance of valuing our relationships and staying together despite the challenges of having an overweight spouse. They have one child - Jaddua Ysabel Amaris Coleman who served as a motivator for her mother to lose the weight after she got pregnant with her. She wanted to be there for her daughter for as long as possible by leading a healthy lifestyle. They live in the wonderful, scenic parish of Portland in the beautiful island of Jamaica, West Indies.

    Acknowledgements

We want to thank all the following persons for the role they have played in our lives and for making this book a reality.

My mother, Beverley Evadne Burley- Gordon, who has always been there and assured me I could be and accomplish anything and my father, Roy Gordon, who loves me unconditionally.

My mother-in-law Marvia Barnes and her husband Errol Barnes and their children Shackeem and Shackera who never ceased to pray for our success.

My father-in law Selvin Coleman and his family members.

Our daughter, Jaddua Ysabel Amaris Coleman, who gave us new meaning to life and was the main reason why I started to eat right and subsequently lost the weight.

My best friend, Trudy-Lee Burke Panton and her husband, Shane Panton and her parents, Carol & Leeford Burke, who have always been there, giving advice and guidance when I needed it most.

Our spiritual parents Melvine and Easton Berry, who took us in, reshaped our thinking and empowered us to achieve.

Overseer Courtney Brown and Evangelist Audrey Brown who did their best to nurture me as a young Christian so I could grow to spiritual maturity.

Dr. Phillip Salmon who encouraged us to write this book and would not stop until it was finished and his wife Elizabeth Salmon, who helped to mentor us so we could grow in every area of our life.

Claudette and Ceford Whyte and Delrose and Paul Henry who poured into our life and strengthened us along our journey.

We would also like to thank our sisters Claudia Atkinson-Robertson, Camala Atkinson, Marsha Coleman-Jackson, brothers Ruel Gordon, Callen Atkinson, Jamiel Coleman, Mowanza Coleman, all our nieces, nephews, and the members of the Snow Hill, Port Antonio & Windsor Heights Church family who have been there as well and to all those who made this book possible.

Lastly, but by no means least, Dr. Cindy Trimm, Bishop T.D. Jakes and Bishop Noel Jones. They do not know me and I do not know them personally but it is through their self-empowering sermons that I listened via the internet that my whole life literally changed. They gave me the courage to write, publish and to be all God has called me to be. It is one of my deepest desires to meet them one day.

Thanks to the Xlibris Publishers family for giving me the opportunity to live my dream.
