About this audiobook

Sharp claws keep you safe.

That’s the brutal lesson Thorne learned as a young wolf-shifter. Abandoned as a child, singled out by an evil uncle, and then forced to work for the ruthless Order of the Well, Thorne’s anger was a weapon as much as his claws. Now a vicious Fae Guardian, he hunts monsters, the human enemy, and anything that gets in his way. On a mission to find his missing mentor, Thorne finds himself suddenly mated to Laurel, a beautiful, driven, but damaged human awoken from a time long since past.

A forced marriage is something neither of them want.

But everything they need.

Spending time with her teaches him that arm’s length might not be a good thing. Learning to love will mean scratching the surface of both their souls, revealing truths more painful than any wound. If he can get past the hurt, the pain, and the pride, Thorne will find a new use for his claws... to bury deep and never let her go.

But when a dark figure from Laurel's past catches up with her, it's not Thorne's claws in question. It's hers. If he can't stop her from exacting bitter revenge, she'll cost him the safety of his mentor and perhaps trigger a war. If he can learn to put his angry past behind him, open his heart and trust new friends, he just might be rewarded with more than an advantage in their ongoing war. He'll find love.

A gripping, new style of epic fantasy with steamy romance featuring a dash of time travel, monster hunting, fated mates, shifters, fae protectors and their strong willed women from our time. If you love your books full of page turning action, intrigue, and romantic tension then this book is for you. For fans of Kristen Ashley's Fantastical series or Sarah J Maas's adult fantasy romance.

The female narrator was infuriating! Everything was spoken in a harsh, gutteral growl. It was ridiculous. I also couldn't stand the main female character. As much as she proclaimed to be a "boss" and a "queen", she was also whiney, over-confident, selfish, and annoying. Thorne deserved better.

The first books main character almost made
me DNF but I powered through and I really liked the book. Enough to start the third. If all keeps going well I am in for the series!

I love the world building magic and Fae after the apocalypse. I love the men, the women sometimes are hard for me but I am getting better at ignoring the “strong independent woman” stereotype that’s a bit to strong for me. Like you just woke up 2000 years later and the world is magic and fae and scary creatures please stop stomping around acting like your the boss of everything. Quite literally one scene has them in a death match battle in an auditorium and this b*tch stops and stomps over to whom she assumes are the people running the DEATH MATCH and DEMANDS they stop. She flashes a bit of her power that she’s still barely got a grasp….uuuuggghhh!! That’s not a strong female lead, that’s a “Karen”. So I am praying the female leads are more likeable as we go.

I do love Rush and Clarke’s baby girl, I wish we heard more from her. I love any intersection between Rush and Willow or Willow and Thorn!!

So that maybe sounded negative but it’s not, it’s a good book and you should read the series.

While the book was good, the woman narrator was horrendous. Her voice just grated on me the entire time, especially for the male characters. It was as if she swallowed gravel for the males and I physically cringed at some parts. It is still worth the listen for the sake of the series and I truly liked Thorne and Laurel.

Story is good but narration is horrible. Kindergarten teachers do way better.

OMG the FMC is awful! Her voice doesn't match her character and she sounds older than she is! Also if I have to hear the word "queen" one more time I will choke! She is entitled and demanding... she can't see her nose despite her face. otherwise the story was good

When I say I DEVOURED the 1st book in this series I mean it—I had a lot of things to do that weekend and I got none of them done because I couldnt put the story down. I fell in love with both the male and female lead. I raced to The Solace of Sharp Claes and it just doesn't hit right for me, DNF @ 20%.
I don't enjoy enemies to lovers usually but I particularly dislike this story because I cannot stand BOTH the male and female lead and I can't root for characters I don't like ?‍♀️. DNF at 20%.

This is a disappointment compared to the first book in the series. I was not invested at all. I didn't care for the characters. This was kind of boring compared to the first book. And I did not enjoy the narration at all. I hope the next book improves.

    phenomenal narrative!!!

The Fae Guardian series is a post apocalyptic must read! This is the second book in the series and will blow you away just as much as the first! I fell into this world and never want to leave. Thorne the brooding Fae wasn't expecting Laurel to be this independent headstrong human. Laurel, a Queen of her own making from her own time in the past is trying to come to terms with her family having died two thousand years ago in the end of the world and waking up in a new changed world. Shes meant to help Thorne find his mentor. Neither expected that they would start a change not only in the world but in each other. A magnificent masterpiece that'll grip you throughout the whole story. It'll leave you wanting so much more from the Faes and the humans of the past that thaw.
A 5 star listen!!! A series you MUST immerse yourself into!
