This was an ok read. I feel like there was too much going on. At the beginning it had a camp crystal lake vibe. Too much sex with someone watching from everywhere. The actual premise of the book seems a little far fetched. It was a little hard to follow. If it had been one or 2 story lines going, it may have been a little easier to follow.

A good read for when you just want to pass some time but are not fully invested/don’t listen to it too closely. It really drags out and tends to repeat itself enough that listening and keeping track of the plot while you do other chores is easy. There were so many times when I felt like the suspense was building, just to come up short. It just didn’t hit the spot for me, but I do like the author.

Not my favorite, didn’t find it to be much of a suspenseful thriller. I kept waiting. Over all didn’t hate it but didn’t love it if that makes sense. Al lot of going back and forth past, present and between all the different characters

Disturbing book. A little far-fetched. If you like scary novels, this is for you.

Engrossing! But I haven’t read enough thrillers, suspense, mysteries to know if it’s because the narrative is masterful or the author’s masterful at stringing the reader along.

I didn’t care about any of the characters. The writing was very good, yet didactic, extremely repetitive, and confusing with the interruptions of backstory that may have been important, but didn’t flow properly. It always removed me from the momentum of the story.

Then at the very end, like an epilogue, there’s an exposition about what ultimately happens to characters I didn’t even care about.

However, that said as critique, listening was quite enjoyable.

Holy hell! What a wild ride! This was one of the most original stories and plots! I think only Lisa Unger would be able to intertwine the numerous characters and their stories this well!

This book was a ride. It really kept me captivated wanting to know what was going to happen. The suspense was on point. The characters were fairly mixed in the ‘oh you need to get away from me’ category and ‘don’t understand your choices but I’m intrigued’ category. The main focus for me was the plot. I was really excited to see how the story was going to end. The writing was really easy to dive into as well. This is my first book by this author and I know there is a whole lot in the backlog that I can’t wait to get too. The narrator was pretty enjoyable to listen to. TW: Sexual Assault, mention of suicide, mention of miscarriages.

Poorly written. Dull. Broadly unconvincing. Hardly a cliffhanger. Not my kind of mystery thriller. Wasn’t mysterious or thrilling. It’s far too easy to put the nickname and the name of the killer together.

A little hard to follow at time with the way the story is told going forward and then into the past . I may relisten to this again . I get the story though and it was a good book ultimately

There was A LOT going on. Unfortunately for me, it seemed like a whole lotta nothing. I want my time back. I just did not like this book. It was performed well though.

Not going to lie I had a hard time becoming invested in this. However about a third of the way in it became a Rollercoaster. The smaller stories started to merge and become this bigger picture and wow. From there it was suprises and plot twists and anger and sadness. Michael and. Are siblings and their best friend Cricket are at the center of the story. On Christmas they each find Origin DNA tests that noone seems to know how they appeared. On the flip side Henry's mother is killed and his life is turned upside down from there. Each of their lives will soon intersect and that is when this book will grip you tight. Great read with well developed characters and a satisfying ending.

It was ok. Good way to pass the time. I don’t regret listening to it. I just thought there was way too much going on, several story lines that could have been cut. However it wasn’t confusing, I just felt that having so much diluted the thriller aspect of it.

My favorite kind of book, where two seemingly unrelated story threads gradually weave themselves together until you can’t believe the connections weren’t obvious from the beginning. A very riveting and thought-provoking tale about family — whether that is determined by genetics, that which you are raised in, or that which you choose.
