Intriguing story at first. Terribly unbelievable midway though. Pass on this one.

Ordinary flimsy plot. Somewhat annoying performance by the narrator - over acted. Started out with all the elements of a good story but soon became difficult to want Finnish.

It wasn’t the greatest book. It sort of dragged on and on and comes off as an amateurish “who-done-it”. Still worth a listen but for me it was just so-so.

Found certain characters rather annoying. Especially Meredith. Did have a nice plot twist, and read smoothly, but will not be adding this to a favorites pile.

This book catches your attention from the beginning and keeps you guessing throughout. That said, the characters Meredith and Shelby, were annoying and rather dim witted. Also, there were times that the story was unbelievable, especially at the end. No spoiler alerts from me though.

Still, it is an interesting and well written book. Worth a read.

Could have been better, hard to like Meredith as she has decided to champion women as a doula, but is so ineffective she can't stand up for her client or herself. Possibly a few spoilers to follow! Unbelievably she makes horrible choices after being pressured by her friend and then a doctor she works with? Unbelievably she keeps secrets from her husband about an old flame she isn't even sleeping with and about texts threatening her? And checking into the hotel, doesn't everyone know that you never let someone get you alone, away from everyone after they have threatened your life? Take that last opportunity at the hotel desk to pass a note saying "call 911"! Unrealistic and no one in the book to cheer for, apart from the girl in the beginning who is my hero, but the book unfortunately doesn't revolve around her story.

Overall I thought the book was really good and engaging. However, I didn’t like the “twist” and couldn’t understand why the person did what they did.

New York Times Bestseller?! Wow…Meredith and her whiny victim of every circumstance voice is nauseating. All of the characters were rather unlikeable. The plot drug on so that when I finally made it to the end I was relieved it was over. The narrator has a pleasant voice but the over-dramatic whining is just too hard to take.

SHOOK-ITH. I don’t have one bad thing to say about this book, honestly. I’ve read about 60 ish books within the last 10 months and it’s been a while since one has left me guessing all the way around until the end of the book.

The overall writing style, character build up and follow through with this story is amazing. I cannot wait to read more books by this author.

Also to add, the narrators of story did a fantastic job at portraying charters, the build ups, emotions and everything else. Highly impressed!

The narrator for Meredith was terrible. Ridiculous ending. Truly absurd

Since the author used so much first person narration there is not much dialog between the characters. Each character tells the story from their own POV. After the first chapter, I found myself not really caring about or for the characters, and at times I found all this narrative somewhat tedious. I did finish the book, mainly because it was selected by my book club.

Slow start and the narration isn't particularly interesting, it felt a bit boring honestly, but I gave up completely when the chapters narrated by the teenage boy came. Those are just unbearable, and I have zero wish to read chapters narrated by an annoying and jealous teenage boy complaining about everything. And considering the book hadn't really managed to peak my interest by then I just gave up, I just couldn't bring myself to endure the boy's chapters. Meredith is also not a good character, way overdramatic and does all the wrong things.

The story was okay with some unexpected twists. But a lot of long drawn out scenes that got really annoying. Also, I didn’t like the way the actor read for Meredith. WAY too dramatic.

In my opinion, you really have to suspend reality to enjoy this book. Ridiculous plot! When I finally found out where the author was headed with “whodunnit”, and the explanation of the other missing person…I just rolled my eyes and felt like I’d been duped! I honestly felt like I wasted hours listening to this!!
