About this audiobook

Two sisters raised in fear are about to find out why in a chilling novel of psychological suspense from the author of The Thinnest Air.

Ignorant of civilization and cautioned against its evils, nineteen-year-old Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie, were raised in off-the-grid isolation in a primitive cabin in upstate New York. When the youngest grows gravely ill, their mother leaves with the child to get help from a nearby town. And they never return.

As months pass, hope vanishes. Supplies are low. Livestock are dying. A brutal winter is bearing down. Then comes the stranger. He claims to be looking for the girls’ mother, and he’s not leaving without them.

To escape, Wren and her sister must break the rule they’ve grown up with: never go beyond the forest.

Past the thicket of dread, they come upon a house on the other side of the pines. This is where Wren and Sage must confront something more chilling than the unknowable. They’ll discover what’s been hidden from them, what they’re running from, and the secrets that have left them in the dark their entire lives.

I don’t know what the person that said that it just ended talking about. There’s not one thing left dangling not one thing on answered. I was fine with the way it ended. I thought they wrap things up brother nicely when I had six months I was very satisfied.

Enjoyed how it all folded together, albeit predictable. A random point of contention, I wish that Sage’s age was a little younger. The way she acted so much younger was kind of strange and a bit of a plot point hole.

It was really good until it became totally unbelievable. And wrapped up too easily.

Honestly if you're new to the genre of mystery/thriller, this is great other than that its boring and predictable. I pretty much figured out the story plot less than 1/4 into the book, the only reason I continued reason was because of the raving reviews.. and I was definitely dissatisfied

The Stillwater Girls by Minka Kent was wow! And I mean it - Wow! This was wow, wow, wow!
So twisted! As I didn't read a blurb or any reviews I literally dived in blindly without any idea of what I will get there. And I got more than I would expect! Minka Kent definitely moves to my favorite authors list! I want to read everything by her now! Seriously, this book left me with an open mouth!
It was so good that I chose to ignore my family all afternoon because I needed to finish!
This is some seriously twisted thriller! I LOVED IT!

Wren and her two sisters, Sage and Evie lived deep in the woods not knowing what was going on in the real world! They have just basics and by that I mean they even don't know what is electricity!
Life gets complicated when Evie gets ill and her mother takes her to the hospital... but she never comes back...
Nicolette and her husband Brant live their best life the only missing thing is a child that they can't have. They exploring their options and are ready to be adoptive or foster parents to fulfill their life until the moment Nicolette is positive Brant has an affair!
These two families will cross their paths in such an unexpected way and this will be just the start of a crazy journey up and down the hill!

This is an absolute must-read book if you love fast-paced, unexpected twists and an original storyline! Straight to 6 stars from me!!!

It had a compelling plot, but some of the elements of the story didn’t seem logical. Like how the characters behaved.. it didn’t make sense. Many of their actions and motivations just weren’t that believable in the end.

Interesting. I thought I knew the ending and did about halfway through the book. It was too fairytalish - everything wrapped up with a neat bow. Still, intriguing.

An interesting but far-fetched storm. I found Wren‘s voice difficult to listen to. It was too intense and somewhat whiny, although her character was very interesting..

Okay story & plot, but I knew what would happen 1/4 of the way in (well there was one very improbable twist I didn't see coming). Okay book for a raining Sunday while painting the guest room.

Really great listen! I loved the sweetness of the characters and the twists in the plot. Some of the mystery was easy to ascertain and a couple came near the end making for a wonderful ride.

Very well written and interesting story. The twist was a bit farfetched for me. Narration was good. An entertaining read.

I only give this 5 stars because I couldn’t stop listening! I wanted to know the truth...just how they got to a place in their lives so void of modern day. The author (and narrator) did a wonderful job portraying the sheltered and scared voices to keep the reader hanging on for more...

This is the most contrived plot of all time. It was just ridiculous. And for such emotional happenings, people’s feelings are about as deep as a puddle.
