The Housekeeper: A twisted psychological thriller
Author

Natalie Barelli

Natalie Barelli can usually be found reading a book, and that book will more likely than not be a psychological thriller. When not absorbed in the latest gripping page-turner, she loves cooking, enjoys riding her Vespa around town, and otherwise spends far too much time at the computer. She lives in Australia with her family. For more information, visit nataliebarelli.com.

The internal dialogue of the main character was very entertaining. Unexpected plot twist. Entertaining voice to listen to too! Hope I find more like this.

Interesting plot, kept me curious until the end and loved the twists and suspense. The voices of narration was slightly annoying But not enough to make me want to quit listening!

Narrator sounded way too old for the character. The voices she put on were pretty annoying. Storyline poor anyway.

Why does this have such high ratings? The main character is completely unlikable. She spends 90% of the book whining and scheming with the most juvenile revenge plot possible. Then the book twists without being convincing and wraps up suddenly. Absolutely awful.

I had a great time listening to this book. I read some negative reviews about the narrator, however, I really thought the voice fit the personality of Claire. Fun novel.

Tight writing! Kept me guessing until the end. Great, funny narrator, suspenseful twisty story. Unexpected happy ending.
One slight annoyance: the 24-year-old main character's voice sounded too mature. But it was a good voice.

Can’t stand the narrator so only made it to chapter three she was so awful with her improv I was about to scream!

I liked this book a lot! The only thing that kept it from being five stars for me was the narrator seem to have too “old” of a voice for the characters she was playing.

I enjoyed the point of view and being in Claire’s head. It kept me wanting to know what she would do next and it had a great plot twist!

I guess it could be a good story line but I can't stand the voice and if she bit her knuckle one more time I thought I would lose my mind

I don't ever write reviews, but this book was so good!! Never saw the ending coming. What an amazing twist. It was really easy to listen too. Author and reader did a really great job. Can't wait to listen to more from this author.

Good story, kept me entertained. What made it less enjoyable was the narrator. Story told in first person POV of a 24 year old woman, but the narrator's voice and inflection sounded like a 45 year old. It wasn't right for the character at all and made it difficult to connect.

Twist at the end that you don’t see coming! Claire and Hannah could be annoying but so worth you pushing thru. Will definitely look for more by this author.

Loved this book, a great listen. Couldn't put it down! Agree with some of the other comments that the choice of narrator as a 24 year old wasn't the best option by the production team (she was a fantastic narrator, just not for a 24 year old character), but I reimagined her as slightly older and was able to get passed that! Well written and worth listening to.

Funny in places and kept me interested to the end! Some of the story I predicted but not all of it! Different from the two books by this author that I've listened to, but enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book and I was surprised many times throughout it! I had to put it down a few times because I got anxiety about plot twists ?

I didn't want it to end. It's that good! The only thing that spoiled the book was the narrator's voice didn't match the character's age. The main character should be 24 and she sounded like 42. Besides that, the narrator did a FANTASTIC job, the best I've heard in a long time.

I agree with others that the narrator's voice was too mature for a 24 year old character. Aside from that the story was very interesting and I couldn't wait to see what ended up happening. Worth reading/listening to!

Such great writing and narration! The narrator sounds much older than the main character (24) but, since the main character, Claire, is from New York, I can let that go as the narrator has a perfect New Yorker attitude and accent. She mis-pronounced 2 words (locale and consummate) but, because the story made me want to get away to listen to it- which I can only do at work, that says something about how good it is. This is definitely five star book.

So good! Just hold on the end is worth it!
