About this audiobook
Sometimes science demands sacrifice...
Perfection.
Juliet Huff’s life depends on it.
She’s never been outside, had friends over, or attended school. She’s also never had a cold, a bruise, or a scrape.
Her parents are researchers, part of the secretive Genesis Foundation, and they have one goal. Utopia. No one will ever lose another child to disease or birth defects. They’ll achieve their goal through cloning perfect children. In order to attract funding, any imperfect subjects are terminated.
As she nears her eighteenth birthday, she discovers she will become the first Genesis child to reach this milestone and will be “preserved” as a permanent record of their work unless she can break free.
But Juliet has a secret. She met someone from the outside world once, the boy from across the street. Escaping her house, she finds Bill Manning all grown up, but time is running out and she must expose the Genesis Foundation…
Because she’ll never be perfect again.
Editor's Note
Genetic Thriller...
In this genetic thriller, Juliet has been kept protected her entire life, not allowed to mar the perfection of her DNA. When she finally begins to question everything, horrific plans come to light, and Juliet has to figure out how to keep herself and her younger sister alive. Kessler’s thriller blends in some young adult and romantic elements for an even more emotional, character-driven read.

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Very predictable. Not a thriller at all. More for teens and sci fi amateurs. I don't recommend to anyone into psychological thrillers.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This storyline is believable with interesting and believable characters that maintain your interest and keep you wanting more. It keeps twisting and is just very well written
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed parts of this book but its storyline is really far-fetched. There was more questions than answers.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Finished in a day! The ending was stellar!! Looking forward to the series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I randomly picked this book as a palate cleanser, and man, I found a gold mine! It hooks you right away, has a steady pace, and I found myself being pleasantly surprised throughout the whole book. I've got to find more of her novels!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The concept of the book is great, however the portrayal is lacking. Many of the interactions between characters were unrealistic and gave a cartoon/childish vibe. Really wanted to love this based on the concept but the resulting content seemed immature and unrealistic.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5One of the worst books I have ever read. It was difficult to finish. I will definitely not be reading the next 2.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I honestly don’t know why I even bothered to finish this book. Within a few minutes, I knew it was ridiculous. It was childish, far fetched, and riddled with plot holes. The character development was weak, and their arcs made zero logical sense. The whole “teenagers going against the big bad secret organization” thing is just silly. Don’t waste your time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An awesome story. I can't wait for the next book.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest coming out on audiobook.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The premise and storyline were interesting and engaging, but I felt the entirety of the novel posed a bit of “White Room Syndrome.” While I enjoyed the thrill of it and wanted to see how it would play out, it felt a bit sterile and missing some key descriptors for the immersive effect you hope for in a thriller. Overall good, and I’d be curious to read the next in the series, but needs more setting descriptions to really pull you in.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Don’t waste your time. I looked beyond the cringy subtitle because the concept had potential, but the author made the progression of the story less and less believable every time the characters—main or side or otherwise—did not call the police, did not call CPS, did not go to the hospital. Like, calling the police to check on the child that the whole neighborhood seems to know is trapped in the creepy house should have happened in chapter 1. It’s just lazy writing. “But the police won’t believe us!” Really? Pretty sure they’ll believe the eight dead bodies in the backyard and the creepy secret science lab in the basement. Oh! And the journal that’s basically a full confession. I slogged through chapter 11 and then just fast-forwarded so I could warn others. Skip it!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed it. I picked it at random and couldn't stop listening to it.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5As a lover of sci-fi & dystopian reads, this one just didn’t quite do it for me. Storyline was too far-fetched with some major plot holes that distracted from the story as a whole. An easy and somewhat fun listen, and it held my attention enough to where I wanted to finish it, but I probably won’t be returning for any of the sequels.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Like the book and will listen to the rest in the trilogy. Just thought the middle was drug out.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Good storyline, looking forward to the next two books in the trilogy.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The story was well-written, though I did find the concept a little far fetched. I probably won’t listen to the other books in the series but with one did hold my attention. I do wish it was just a normal suspense thriller, instead of one with a sci-fi element. The narration was great!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This book was amazing. I could not stop listening to the audiobook. Loved it
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A decent read. Could have used some more plot development. Kind of dropped off at points but entertaining.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I loved it. The suspense was great. People actually died. Characters were well rounded. I would like to have had more however. This story could have been actually doubled in size with back stories on each of the characters and it wouldn't have been old to read all of that. It was well done but it could have gone deeper and I'd like to see a number two or even a number three with a saga of Genesis continues and Bill and Juliet continue somehow getting drawn back to actually covertly fighting against Genesis.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a good book, I listened to this book in one day and can't wait for the second and third ones to come out. That ending was just the right kind of cliffhanger to make people want more. I just discovered this author today and can't wait to delve into more of her books.
