“Intricate and nuanced—on par with the best top-flight psychological suspense.” —L.A. Times

INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

From master of suspense Lisa Unger comes a riveting thriller about a chance encounter that unravels a stunning web of lies.

Selena Murphy is commuting home on the train when she strikes up a conversation with a beautiful stranger in the next seat. The woman introduces herself as Martha and soon confesses that she’s been stuck in an affair with her boss. Selena, in turn, confesses that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. When the train arrives at Selena’s station, the two women part ways, presumably never to meet again.

Then the nanny disappears.

As Selena is pulled into the mystery of what happened, and as the fractures in her marriage grow deeper, she begins to wonder, who was Martha really? But she is hardly prepared for what she’ll discover…

Don't miss The New Couple in 5B, Lisa Unger's newest psychological thriller about a couple that inherits an apartment with a truly chilling past.

Could not put it down! Love the narrative about how smart phones make people less attentive and easier to track and con.(as I type into my smartphone)

Honestly, expected even more from this book. It is a bit dragged and has a few twists. Took me a few weeks to finish it fully

Well, this story has been one big, twisted master plan that did destroy many lives. From the readers' point of view, these men were very destructive and did not stop at who and what they brought pain. For the girls, they were victims who also used those they believed have made their lives a living hell. But along the line sew what they did and how they have equally almost turned into this man who had taken from them. But they in turned to decide to make the men AND equally make them pay for all the pain destruction they leave behind them.
For the family, they were able to turn their experiences to an advantage and learn from the wrong things that took place in their lives. Change for the better! But only time will tell.

I really enjoyed this story, it was different. It's not very twisty which is fine because the story and characters were good. A lot of the reveals I saw coming, yet this did not ruin the story for me. You get to know a lot about these characters and at times you will like them, hate them, pity them and love them. This is my first book by this author and I will look for more by her. The last line of this book was absolute perfection.
