About this audiobook

Sixteen years ago, Princess Halla of Yshrem saved the life of an eight-year-old barbarian boy and watched her kingdom fall to ruin, all on the same day. Now, she is a forgotten spinster in a quiet temple, living her days out in solitude. The last of her line, she exists in the hope that she has been forgotten, for to be remembered by the enemy is to be certain death.

One person has not forgotten her. Mathior, now twenty-four, is the fierce warrior king of the Cyclopae. Yshrem is in turmoil and his advisors have a suggestion-kill the last remaining member of the royal line, and there will be no rivals for the throne.

Mathior has a different idea. He's loved Halla for sixteen long years, and it's time he claimed her as his wife. But a barbarian's wedding customs are unlike any other . . .

Contains mature themes.

It’s cute, very short though, but entertaining. The narrators voice is horrible and annoying! Which spoiled the story!

The storyline is fine but the female voice actor is so irritating. I would prefer the male actor to just voice the whole thing than suffer her weird pronunciation and exaggerated syllables. "I'm just and old spinster-ah. He's was just a boy-uh". She makes the protagonist sound so whiny and annoying. I struggled to pay attention

Fun and lighthearted! I love that he gives her the opportunity to fail for herself and not have to make a rush decision.

This book was short and sweet, sadly I am not a fan of this author, have previously listened to one other book and I'm not a fan of her writing style. I thought I'll listen to this one as it is a different genre but again found her writing style lacking. Only saving grace is characters are well written and developed.

Great novella! Short and sweet, and a good introduction to the Anchor and Aspect world. I love Mathior's devotion.

I usually love the writing style of this author, but this story just didn’t do it for me. I might have thought this story a bit better if the way the female narrator read didn’t irritate me. I’ve loved listening to the male narrator in many books, but I don’t like the way the female narrator spoke.

Story wise, I felt like the “love”/lust for each other was fairly forced. It felt like, all of a sudden, they just loved each other and couldn’t get enough of each other. This is something Ruby Dixon does in many of her stories, but usually there is a reason for it.

I don’t know. This one just wasn’t that great for me.

I love the trope where the guy practically worships the ground his love interest walks on

I loved this book, the book tubers I follow have hyped this book and it was well deserved. I found the relationship between the two characters to be fabulous, steamy, romantic and respectful.
