- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This was funny in parts but it seriously lagged in parts too. Overall the story was good but it was slooooow.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Another good addition to the Argeneau vampire series full of humor as always and the vacation setting was fun. I do enjoy when the male pursues the female and it's especially nice when she's older. Prompted by his mother, Christian's band replaces a cancellation and he meets Carolyn who is vacationing after her divorce.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Enjoyable addition to the series. No new information, really. Are the nanos expecting trouble? They seem to be setting up a lot of breeding pairs......
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Marguerite Argeneau is a vampire on her honeymoon with her new vampire husband Julius. When she runs into Carolyn Connor, a forty-something mortal, she knows she is the perfect life-mate for her son Christian. The problem is that even though Christian is 500 years old, he looks 25 and Carolyn doesn't want to be perceived as a cougar. Christian's cousin Gia comes up with a plan: Christian can pretend that he is gay and that his family would not approve if they knew. Gia asks Carolyn to be Christian's beard so his family doesn't suspect he's gay. The hope is that after Carolyn gets to know Christian, he can reveal he is not gay and she won't care about the age difference anymore. And then of course he also has to tell her he's a vampire at some point as well.Under a Vampire Moon is the sixteenth book in the Argeneau series. It's the first book in the series that I've read but I had no trouble following the story. I wasn't up to speed on all the vampire mythology but that wasn't important to understanding what was happening. Actually, Christian and his relatives don't act much like vampires, they could have very easily been regular humans without altering the story. They drink bagged blood and as long as they drink enough of it, they can go out in the daytime.Carolyn can be very frustrating and dense. Towards the end, her history is revealed and it explains most of her behavior. Christian's cousin Zanipolo is a minor character in this book who was charming and funny - I wish he would have been featured more. Even though the plot follows the typical trashy romance formula, it did manage to surprise me in the end. I knew there was something up with Carolyn's best friend Bethany but what ended up happening with her was not what I was expecting.Since this book is an Avon paperback, I knew it would not be a great work of literary fiction. But for what it is - a trashy romance novel - I thought it was a fun read. I enjoyed it but not so much that I feel like I need to read any of the other books in the series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Carolyn Connor goes with her friend Beth on holidays to St Lucia while trying to cheer herself up after a divorce that was draging on for years. Her husband had undermined her and convinced her that she was worthless and now, faced with couples everywhere she is beginning to wonder about her worth. Then she bumps into Marguerite Argeneau who is on her honeymoon and Marguerite realises that she's perfect for Christian so she gets him to come. Carolyn is so skittish that they lie to help her get to know Christian, but will Carolyn forgive them for lying to her, after all that's what her husband did to her.Too accepting of the strange and the lies. Some of these women need to start threatening their mates with dire consequences if they lie again to them. I would.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I haven't made it through even the first 5 chapters, incredibly well written. This is my fourth audio book on this website, and this one has me eager to get to the end. Hoping there is more by this author. My first 5 star rating.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Here it is 2 days after I finished reading this book and the ending still bothers me. There was no cliff hanger or anything like that. I felt like we were jipped on the ending. I felt that there either should have been one more chapter or an epilogue. Spoiler alert: Carolyn finds out at the very end that Christian is immortal. Within a few pages, she easily accepts that. And then the end. Really? Oh yea she's happy that it worked out the way it did for her to meet Christian. I would have loved a few months later moment having Christian mess with her ex-husband's mind. That would have been great. Overall it was a light, easy read. It can be read as a stand alone. I loved the rest of the band members. Hopefully Sands will write stories about some of them.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Entertaining, funny, but a bit repetitive. Love the series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A determined matchmaking vampire matriarch finds the true lifemate for her 500-year old son, and hilarious hijinks and steamy sensuality ensue! Marguerite Argeneau-Notte, an extremely beautiful, and very well-preserved, centuries-old vampire honeymoons in the Caribbean with her second husband and eternal soulmate, Julius Notte. When Marguerite meets Carolyn Connor, a fortyish vacationer trying to recover from a disastrous marriage, she immediately recognizes the perfect woman for her son, Christian. Marguerite maneuvers to have Christian and his band play at the hotel resort where they are staying, and her plan begins to unfold. However, after having read Carolyn's thoughts on life, love, men, and marriage, Marguerite decides to bring Christian and Carolyn together slowly so that Carolyn will be more accepting of the situation. After all, not only is Christian a gorgeous, rich, and ageless vampire, he appears to only be about twenty five, as do all the immortals. Carolyn is a shade over forty, with self-esteem issues and self-doubts aplenty. In order to ease Carolyn into the relationship, a scheme is hatched where Christian is presented as a gay man in need of a "lady friend" in order to hide his sexual orientation. With some "adjustments" to her thought processes, Carolyn agrees, and the sweet and sexy comedy capers begin to unfold. Two things made this book work for me: the smart and sassy humor of Lynsay Sands, and the very appealing character of Carolyn. Underneath all the vampire bling-bang, and makin' whoopee, many women will identify with Carolyn, and that's what makes this paranormal romance above the norm. I haven't read all the entries in Lynsay Sands enormously popular and successful "Argeneau Series", but I have enjoyed each one that I have read very much! Review Copy Gratis Amazon Vine
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I am someone who tries really hard to read series in their order. Thankfully I am a fan of the Argeneau series so I had already read the previous 15 books. If you haven’t read any of the previous books, don’t worry, you won’t be lost when you read Under a Vampire Moon. Ms. Sands does a wonderful job making you not feel left out and gives you the details that you need to follow along with the story.Under a Vampire Moon is a light, easy, fun read. This is not a scary vampire story at all; it is a love story between a vampire and his life mate. Things take a crazy turn when she is led to believe he is gay. To top it off she thinks she is way too old for him when the opposite is true. There is a twist in the plot that I was not expecting and in the end… well you just can’t wait for the next Areneau novel to come out!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Marguerite Argeneau-Notte and her life mate Julius are on their honeymoon at a resort in St Lucia. She immediately notices that another guest of the resort is her son's life mate; she has a gift of recognizing life mates for family members. As luck would have it Carolyn is good friends with the resort's entertainment coordinator who is frantic to replace the band that had to cancel at the last minute. It's the perfect excuse to bring Christian and the band he has with his Notte cousins to the island so he can meet Carolyn. But Carolyn is vacationing there with another friend, Bethany, to get away while the divorce from her husband is finalized. Reading her thoughts the Notte family realizes Carolyn would run from a relationship with Christian right now, especially since she believes he's so much younger than her and has very little experience with relationships. Much to Christian's chagrin his cousin tells Carolyn he's gay but the rest of the family doesn't know about it, and would Carolyn agree to act as his love interest while they're on the island so the rest of the family doesn't find out; it's a role she's played before in college for a good friend. The hope is that she'll get comfortable with him as a friend first, and not run away from his interest or when learning the truth about what they are. There's a great deal of sexual tension and humor in a beautiful setting. Right now Christian can only make love to her through dream-walking and Carolyn is horrified that she's so turned on by the much younger gay man that she's feels she's raping him in her dreams. She feels the need to protect him from her, adding to his frustration.Carolyn's objections to a relationship, especially with a younger man, start feeling over the top as the story progresses. At least until we finally hear about her soon-to-be-ex-husband near the end of the book and how mentally abusive he was. Then the pace and her feelings make sense. We meet a character that I'd really like to see again. Captain Jack needs his own story.I'd stopped reading the series a number of books back. Not because I didn't enjoy them, but with reading so many different authors, I had to pick and choose what to keep reading with time and money constraints. I enjoyed this story, the setting and the characters. It was nice to be reacquainted with that world. Reviewed as an ARC for Amazon Vine Voice
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Over the years I have skipped around and missed some books so thought it was time to start at the beginning and work through the entire series in order. I think this is the first book I ever read by Sands and what got me hooked on her books. I enjoyed the book just as much the second time around. Great characters, an inventive plot and humor. Love Sands humor in this series. It keeps me coming back.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Under a Vampire Moon –Lynsay Sands I have been reading Lynsay Sands forever! Or so it seems. Her Vamp series was starting to get a little old; using all of Ms Sands earlier plot devices several times in different books, and I was ready to give up and stick with her historical romances.. Now I’m glad I didn’t because this book, while it does contain some elements of yore, it has a lighter, fresher feel. There is fewer explanations of how these are not vamps but Nano infused and therefore more efficient blood drinking immortals. . The vampire (Christian Notte) isn’t all dark and broody and the female protagonist (Carolyn Conner) is not a young woman with no life experience.Christian never expected to find his life mate when he goes to the Caribbean to play with his band, yet that is exactly what he does…of course his mother found Carolyn first while Marguerite was on her own honeymoon! This was such a cute idea and one that the author really plays to the hilt, yet not in an annoying way. One of the things that stand in the way of Carolyn really having a relationship with Christian is that she believes he is a homosexual. A ploy he is using (that his cousin came up with) to calm her fears about being so much younger than he is and being so attracted to him, and he is hoping to have her be his beard so she will come to like and trust him. Imagine Caro’s surprise when she starts having very sexy dreams about Christian; ones that feel very real. Carolyn may have been married before and is in the midst of a divorce, but we find out that her husband had a teeny-weeny, but a HUGE ego and she has not known the comfort of a man’s arms for about 7 years. How can a lasting relationship come of one that starts out with lies? I wasn’t sure I was going to agree with this idea, but Ms Sands really does make it work and I feel that she never once was offensive in her usage of Carolyn as a ‘beard’.Try this book especially if you haven’t been keeping up with the series, you may go back to it as I have done. I am now eagerly filling in all the books that I may have missed!
