- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Love this book, with the exception of the story of Lucern and Kate, Nicholas and Jo are my favourite characters in this series so far.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Another hit in my book. I love a good vampire story and Sands never fails to deliver. Great characters and an exciting plot and just the right amount of steamy goodness make for the best combo. Looking forward to reading book #13 as I work my way through the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5another good humorous vampire story by Lynsay Sands with assertive heroine involved with hunted vampire who everyone thought had gone bad
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book. Jo has me literally laughing and Nicholas stole my heart.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5You would think after 12 of these books that I would grow tired of them. While they do have a very similar plot point, immortal finds lifemate, etc, each book and characters are very different and somehow each book ends up being fresh and fun.I really enjoyed this installment in the Argeneau series. Jo and Nicholas were both great characters. I really loved Jo, she was so sassy and funny and smart. She kept Nicholas on his toes, and that's hard to do with someone who is centuries old. This one had the great twist of trying to figure out why Nicholas had become and rogue, and then trying to figure what exactly happened all those years ago, and if all the suspicious blanks could make a difference.Overall, this book was light and funny, but still managed to be full of action and mystery. I love how the characters from other books in the series always seem to play into the new books so that you can see how each of their lives are progressing, without the story feeling overdone or becoming boring. If Lynsay Sands keeps making them so fresh then I'm sure to stick with this series for a long time to come.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed this book a lot. I love Lynsay Sands writing!
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I'm confused as to how anyone would like this book if they make it to the end. (Don't read this any further if you don't want to know the ending) The author doesn't wrap up the mystery of who killed vampire Nicholas' first wife and why, and who killed the pregnant human woman and set up Nicholas for the rap. The author tells us at the end that Nicholas (and his new life mate, Jo) are now free, that they have proven his innocence and are gathering the family so all will know and then it's just a love-birds-fade-into-the-sunset ending. Maybe I'll pick up Sands' earlier forays into the vampire-romance fiction, maybe not.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5With such a fun cast of characters at her fingertips, fans have come to enjoy Sand’s Argeneau’s clan over the years. With stories like that of Lucern’s (my special favorite!), Lucian, Victor, Thomas, Etienne, Vincent, and Lissiana’s stories fans have come to depend upon the consistent writing that she’s created for us: the quirky, mirthsome, sun- challenged tribe. Which is why I found RH, such a surprise. The Renegade Hunter is the third of Sand’s peripheral offshoot into the lives of the enforcers of the Argeneau clan (The Rogue Hunter, The Immortal Hunter). Renegade Hunter takes off and continues the storyline that was started in The Rogue Hunter, that of the lives of Samantha Willan and Garrett Mortimer. This time the story is about Samantha’s sister Jo who becomes involved with the black sheep of the Argeneau clan and rogue through a happenstance occurrence at Sam’s and Garrett’s “introduction party”: Nicholas Argeneau manages to save her life.RH seems somewhat harried with regard to quality. By comparison, Sands’ oeuvre has been largely consistent. When I see her books on the shelf, I grab them immediately. In fact I have them all because I am such a fan. But to be fair and honest with regard to Renegade Hunter, I couldn’t help but feel that the “love connection” was lacking and altogether limp between Nicholas and Jo. This could be because the first 50% of the book is mired in a glacially slow prose with little or no plot to engage readers in forming a link with the main characters. The action does not truly evolve until you hit mid-point. If you are a fan like I am, and are very forgiving, muddle through it until mid-way and don’t give up. You will find Sand’s signature recipe present from that point on.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I liked this one--especially the latter third or so. However, I much preferred the series before it went into the "rogue hunter" arc a few books ago. Bring back the fun!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Strong woman meets a rogue vampire and discovers the world of vampires. Fun interesting smart characters.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5There was at least one part that made me laugh really hard, and that's always fun. I wasn't ready for the abrupt ending, but I suppose the loose ends will be tied up in the next book in the series. Lynsay Sands really knows how to write likeable characters and steamy passion.
