This is my first title from author Meka James and I really liked this story. She’s a good writer, taking her time to build the story and develop the characters’ personalities. I love the small-town theme and older-woman/younger man trope had me curious to check this out, because it’s not as common in Black romance. And might I add that she wrote the heck out of the sex scenes! ?

Both narrators were new-to-me as well, and they did a solid job as Regina and Alec. I can tell that they both got more comfortable as the story progressed, and the tender moments when they voiced their characters realizing they were in love were well done and heartwarming. I will be keeping an eye out for their work in the future, as I’m sure they will continue to get stronger in the craft.
