About this audiobook
Three women form an unbreakable bond in a sexy, suspenseful, and adventurous novel about empowerment and sisterhood through thick and thin.
Venus McGee, Draya Carter, and Jackie Benson are coworkers with a lot in common. They’re smart, independent, driven, and deserving of recognition—certainly more than they’ve been handed by a demoralizing boss. He’s the topic of conversation at their impromptu get-together after the company holiday party, where the threesome fantasizes about a life without him. There has to be an alternative to taking a deep breath and sucking it up. There is. It’s just not the one they expected.
When morning comes, Venus, Draya, and Jackie are blindsided by murder—a twist of fate that brings a startling new challenge to the table and forces them to navigate a hair-raising detour they never saw coming. For better and (unless they can help it) for worse, it’s going to turn their world upside down. What starts as a necessary bond of mutual trust soon morphs into an empowering and galvanizing friendship that Venus, Draya, and Jackie need now more than ever.

This was a great book. I really liked the bond the three women forged after being put in a not so favorable position. They became true friends and they had each other’s backs. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

I genuinely smiled throughout the entire book, and that is no small feat. I loved the sisterhood between the characters. I loved how each woman had her own distinct personality and love interest. I will say Jackie’s love interest storyline seemed very slow-moving and almost like an afterthought. I enjoyed how it came together in the end, but I wish it would have been present throughout the entire book.
The narrator was amazing. She embodied each character, and the effort paid off. This book had a lot of great elements: it was sexy, funny, messy, heartfelt, and overall a really good ride. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Wow. I just wasn’t sure how these 3 women were going to become friends! A murder does not make a friendship but friendship happened. The killer was a surprise so no spoilers from me. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

"The After Party" by A.C. Arthur was a great read about a friendship between coworkers. Draya, Venus, and Jackie met at work and became closer when a boss at their company got murdered. Draya may have slept her way to the position she currently has at work, but she needs help from Venus and Jackie to keep her from being accused of the murder. This book tells a little bit about each character, and just when you think you know who did it, there is a twist. My favorite scene in the book is when Jackie and Venus go over to Draya's mothers house to have dinner, and Jackie feels so accepted for being herself and wants to do a Christmas gift exchange. I enjoyed A.C. Arthur's writing style and will definitely read more. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5

Never heard of the author before reading this book but… I’m impressed. I’m always on the lookout for sapphic novels and at first i was a little annoyed that this one didn’t exactly center the queer character but I soon changed my opinion.
The book was a great read. Black. Funny. Believable.
The voiceover was excellent. Each character was distinctive.
This is actually one of my fave reads for this genre. But idk if I would call it sapphic and I don’t know if I would object to it being called such.
I just know that anyone could enjoy it!
I look forward to learning whether the im author has more books I would find interest in.
