About this audiobook

Her return could be a second chance to repair a first love...

Forty-three and jobless, Cynthia Marshall finds herself in the last place she'd expected, back home on Madison Island, GA. Her small hometown holds the ghosts of choices past. From the large Victorian she inherited from her beloved aunt, to unresolved family issues, and the boy turned man she left behind over two decades ago.

Starting a new career is hard enough but having to do so side by side with a person whose heart she broke is something she never accounted for.

Marcel Lewis is the owner of the only construction company on the island and is the key to making Cynthia's new dream a reality. He never quite got over the abrupt departure of the first woman he ever loved. Her return means he can finally get answers to the whys and what-ifs that have plagued him.

Years have passed, feelings have remained, but some wounds have yet to heal. The more time they spend together, the walls of the old house aren't the only ones tumbling down. But they can't construct a future without answering for decisions of the past.

CONTENT WARNING

This story contains mentions of grief, cancer, sickness, and abortion. While none of it goes into great detail, it may still be upsetting to some readers.

Editor's Note

Second-Chance Romance...

The books in James’ “Love on Madison Island” series all spotlight later in life love, and “Renovation of Love” kicks off the series with a second-chance romance. The 43-year-old heroine has come home to her small Southern hometown after losing her corporate job to someone younger and cheaper. She’s inherited her aunt’s house, and she plans on renovating it into a B&B. The person she hires for the renovation is her high school sweetheart, now a single dad, and he’s never gotten over her. The romance is realistic and messy, as are all the strings of attachment — demanding parents, complicated feelings, and expectations about the future.

Boring. I couldn't finish the book. It feels like the story was all over the place. The male narrator doing the female part with that voice was annoying. Completely wasted my time.

Beautiful story! I hadn’t expected such a lovely romantic story. It was a breath of fresh air and the writing style was such a treat. Looking forward to reading more from this author as this was my first book of hers.

Though, it was a very good story. I really did not care for Cynthia’s mother and her messed up attitude. Nevertheless, I found the book to be a very good read.

I loved the maturity of this book. A breath of fresh air to see an author embrace reality so well.

This was a really sweet book - some of the content was a little angsty, but the author did a great job of preparing listeners in the opening credits. Meka James has become a new fave, her storytelling style is natural and funny. The fact that she incorporates older characters as MCs is interesting to me, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

Winston James really shined in this book, stretching his catalog with a southern gentleman was fun to hear. Christy was a new-to-me narrator, and I enjoyed her tone and inflections. Her voicing of the mature adults and her friends was particularly strong, and I will look for more titles that she’s performed.
