About this audiobook
Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential. For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resiliance, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. In the end, it is not the mountain we master, but ourselves.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Meh. She has some useful wisdom about maladaptive behaviors that were helpful in prompting me to dig a little deeper on some stuff I had been working with. But she’s also pretty black and white. It feels a lot like- just do the thing and if you cannot, you are the one to blame. The only thing that matters are results. Things like that. That’s not helpful for people who are truly overwhelmed or struggling or who don’t have the resources to know how to do what she’s talking about. It’s assuming that people know how to give themselves what they want or need- as if that information is easily available when the truth is, it’s probably buried and people need tools to dig deeper.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a really great book for inward focus. It gave me a good perspective on how I interpret my own emotions and from that being my own worst enemy. I absolutely love it and have recommended it to everyone I know seeking self love and healing.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5upon first listen (intend to listen once more) i am left with this synopsis:
a concise compilation of the most helpful and most accessible tenants and principles of the best wisdom truths as well as the best science/neuroscience/physiology research we currently have as a species.
by no means is it overly esoteric, it is simply spiritual in the most basic yet poetic sense that honors the mystery of being human within an ultimately unknowable existence.
above all and most definitely most importantly, it is practical. so practical you are left without a single excuse for not having the life you want after ingesting and digesting the material. good luck!1 person found this helpful
