Reviews for The Science of Motivation

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"Your motivation comes from inside yourself, and you can create that motivation. And the way you create that motivation is by having something to get yourself out of bed for in the morning." (Brian Tracy, "The Science of Motivation")
Do I believe that this book is a comprehensive book on the science of motivation? No. I wouldn't say that. Do I believe that there are keys in this book for getting yourself motivated or others motivated? I do believe that. As the author, Brian Tracy, reiterates in this book: "one idea can change your life. But you never know what the idea is, so you must be continually taking in lots of new ideas, so that the right idea will come to you at the right time. It can transform your life completely." So, I would say that this book is a collection of ideas that the author has gleaned from a number of sources during his thousands of hours of study and years of experience.
There's a lot of material in this program, but some things that stood out for me were:
● Having goals that you are working toward constantly
● Taking action on those goals everyday (One profound thing I learned in program: action eliminates worry)
● Taking responsibility
● Having a long-term perspective
● Watching your self-talk
● Watching your distractions
And much more!
I think the number one thing you hear repeated over over in this program is his advice on having clear goals, written down, and having a process for reviewing them everyday. Whether that is just planning your activities for the day or taking the time to plan clear goals for every area of your life. He briefly explains the process for setting clear goals in this book or you can obtain his many other programs on goal setting, including: Goals!: How to Get Everything You Want Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible
Did you know that only three percent of the population have clear goals? It's true. It's like getting in a vehicle and not knowing where you are going. He says, "Goals give you a track to run on, goals give you a sense of direction, goals give you a feeling of clarity. Goals enable you to concentrate your energies and to focus on a single thing. Goals enable you to accomplish vastly more in a year or two than many people accomplish in five or ten years."
There's too much material in this book to go into detail here, but I believe this program is worth your time if you require some solid strategies, skills and techniques for motivating yourself to the accomplishing of your dreams!1 person found this helpful
