Take a minute,
and follow the rhythm
of your breath.

The gentle ins and outs of calmness,
flowing through you.

PAUSE

Keep breathing and staying connected
to the tempo of your breath.
Allow yourself to sink into it.

PAUSE

Now, imagine if you can,
an important person in your life,
someone with whom you’ve shared
many past experiences.

Welcome that person to your consciousness.

PAUSE

Now, envision that person taking your hand
and leading you down a path–
A path of all you’ve shared together–
The wonderful and the challenging.

Stay with the experiences.
Stay with your person.

PAUSE

After looking at all these times together,
see yourself turning to the person,
looking into their eyes,
and expressing your gratitude
from the deepest part of your soul.

PAUSE

Feel the gratitude growing in you.
Feel the understanding that 
this person’s gifts to you
have helped to shape
who you are.

Hold this energy.

PAUSE

Take your hand
and place it over your heart,
honoring this person
and their contributions to you.

Feel them as part of you.

PAUSE

Now, thank the person one more time.

And, know that they are not just your past.

They are your present.

They are your future.

They are an honored part of who you are,
And you are honored to carry them with you.
Always.
