Breathe…

Just breathe…

And breathe some more…

Until you feel your body opening.

PAUSE

Breathe…

Breathe again…

And keep breathing…

Until the peace from your breath
Is felt throughout.

PAUSE

Breathe deep once more,
And allow the stress…
And pain…
And frustration…
To just float away 
As you exhale.

PAUSE

Now, take a moment,
And reflect…
Reflect on a special person–
That special person–
That one 
Who somehow “got you.”

PAUSE

And while reflecting
On your person,
Let their name softly flow
Through you mind,
Like a gentle breeze.

PAUSE

And with your next breath,
Summon the feelings 
This person inspires in you
To the surface,
To your awareness…

Joy…
Intelligence…
Respect…
Compassion…
Courage…
Love…

PAUSE 

Imagine, now, cupping your hands
Like you caught a pair of fireflies
To show your friends.
Yet, instead of fireflies,
The light flickering in your hands
Is each of those feelings.

PAUSE

Now, envision slowly 
Uncupping your hands,
And moving them toward your face.
While breathing,
Allow yourself to take in 
Those wonderful feelings.

PAUSE

Pause for a minute.

Sit with those feelings.

Let them percolate in you.

PAUSE

Pause for another moment,

And now, 
Give yourself permission to
Own the feelings 
That your person saw in you.

Here them whispered gently to you:

I am joyful.

I am intelligent.

I am respected.

I am compassionate.

I am courageous.

I am loved.

PAUSE

Breathe in again,
And, as you do,
Summon these feelings again,
And let them become part 
Of your language
About yourself.

Today.
And every day.
