Topics Discussed in this Episode:

What to do when you’re feeling bloated and lethargic

Exercises that you can do in a short period of time

Some tips on how to reduce your blood sugar

The benefits of walking

Some examples of Tabata exercise

Key Takeaways:

A 10-minute brisk walk done per day can increase your overall mood and energy for up to two hours afterward.

Tabata is a 4-minute exercise where you do 20 seconds of super intense high-intensity exercise, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat the cycle 8 times.

Blood sugar is basically when glucose comes into the blood and causes a big spike. The pancreas recognizes this spike and releases insulin. And insulin binds to the glucose and takes it out of the blood, which results in a drop of energy.

What we know about blood sugar variation or glycemic variability is it’s a key indicator of longevity. In other words, we don’t want to have a lot of glycemic variability because that can age us. It can also increase our risk of metabolic conditions like diabetes, raised triglycerides, raised cholesterol, and so on.

Action Steps:

When you’re feeling a bit down and lacking energy, go out and take a walk. And when you do, mix up the pace.

Consider doing some high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or Tabata training.

If you haven’t got a lot of time for exercise, really focus on your intent for what you’re doing.

Before or after eating a heavy meal, get a little bit of gentle exercise like taking a walk. This will help lower your blood sugar.

Take cinnamon tea, apple cider vinegar or bitter melon extract to help lower your blood sugar.

Leanne said:
“If you struggle saying ‘no’ but you don’t struggle saying ‘yes’ to stuff, maybe try and say one ‘no’ for every two ‘yeses.’”

“Get moving. That is the best thing you can do for blood sugar and it’s the best thing you can do for energy; the best thing you can do for mood as well. And move in the way we were designed to.”
