LSU will open the 2023 season in Orlando against preseason #11 Florida State. They will open the 2024 season against the USC Trojans in Las Vegas. LSU has played their season opener against several Power 5 opponents over the last few years, including Miami in Jerry's World in 2018, BYU Cougars in New Orleans in 2017, and Wisconsin the year before. There are pros and cons to starting each season against a tough opponent, but are the schedule makers putting the Tigers at a disadvantage opening up the year without a guaranteed win?
Plus, the SEC has announced the format for baseball schedules for the 2025 season once Texas and Oklahoma join the conference. The schedule will still have 30 conference games, ten weeks of three game conference series. Under the current construct each SEC team plays eleven of fourteen conference opponents.
