Description

The college football offseason is in full force so fans and analysts alike are looking forward to next season. With all four Heisman trophy finalists headed to the NFL and several of the biggest names at the quarterback position following suit, who is the national media expecting to be the next group of household names?
247Sports released an article naming LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier a breakout candidate for the 2024 season along with Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava, Oklahoma QB Jackson Arnold, and several more across the country. Nussmeier absolutely should be a breakout candidate; he is a veteran who has waited his turn in an offense that has proven to put up numbers and he flashed what he can do against the Wisconsin Badgers in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Day. Nussmeier has all of the tools to be the next great quarterback in Baton Rouge, but what has to happen around him to ensure he has the right pieces to succeed?
Plus, National Signing Day is Wednesday, February 7th and there are two names in particular that Tigers fans should watch. First, the number one prospect in the state of Louisiana, 5-star DL Dominick McKinley is expected to sign with LSU. He originally committed to Texas A&M but flipped his commitment on New Years Eve. Will the Tigers get him to put pen to paper? Second, Terry Bussey will have the attention of nearly the entire nation. The 5-star two-way player from East Texas also committed to Texas A&M but continued to pursue other options after former head coach Jimbo Fisher was fired. He is considering sticking with the Aggies or signing with the Georgia Bulldogs or LSU Tigers. Was his in-person visit last week enough to convince him to spend his college years with Brian Kelly at LSU?
