While Derek Stingley dominated his freshman season in LSU's National Championship year in 2019, his Linsfranc injury has left him frequently on the bench and with underwhelming stats the past two seasons with the Tigers. He wowed at LSU's Pro Day and even Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said his concerns about Stingley dissipated after watching his drills at Pro Day, concerns about Stingley's injury still remain for a lot of NFL GMs and head coaches. But could he still be the first CB taken on draft day? It's down to Stingley and Cincinnati's Sauce Gardner. Gardner had a stellar season in 2021 and while Stingley has more upside, GMs may look at Gardner like more of a sure thing.
