Description

We are just a few short days away from LSU baseball at the Box!
It has been a star-studded and exciting offseason for Jay Johnson's squad coming off of a College World Series championship and two former players, pitcher Paul Skenes and OF Dylan Crews, went first and second respectively in this past years MLB Draft. The Tigers added yet another year to the infamous "Intimidator" and the illustrious program continued to cement itself as one of the best in the country after bringing home its first championship since the 2009 season. Now that an offseason of celebrations are coming to an end the question is: can LSU do it again?
Head coach Jay Johnson loses the best pitcher and best overall player in the country along with several veterans who played key roles in LSU's championship season last year, like Cade Beloso, Tre Morgan, and several others. How is the roster shaping up to replace them? Plus, even in a championship year the Tigers struggled with bullpen depth. The team lacked enough good arms the last two seasons. Is this year any different?
Plus, LSU brought in a haul in the transfer portal which ranks the second best in the country by D1baseball.com. The Tigers landed former Alabama Crimson Tide ace RHP Luke Holman and hope to replace former Tiger Jordan Thompson, who is off to MLB, with former South Carolina Gamecock Michael Braswell at shortstop. What can the transfer portal class contribute to the Tigers right away and who needs to step up in their first year in an LSU uniform?
