The LSU Tigers will face the Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day in Tampa Bay, Florida in the ReliaQuest Bowl. However, they will have to do it without their leader and biggest playmaker: Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels announced Monday afternoon that he will forego the Tigers' bowl game to prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft in which he is projected to be a first-round pick. So what does that mean for Brian Kelly's team without its starting QB? It means it is time to hop on the Nuss Bus.
With Daniels opting out, third-year quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will get his first start as an LSU Tiger. Nussmeier has waited patiently behind Daniels the last two seasons and Max Johnson in 2021, his true freshman season. Nussmeier has stayed committed to LSU even when he could have found a starting opportunity elsewhere.
