The LSU Tigers quarterback room lost its Heisman Trophy starter Jayden Daniels but had third-year player Garrett Nussmeier leading the way in front of true freshman Rickie Collins and 2024 recruit Colin Hurley before bringing in depth, insurance, and experience with former Vanderbilt starting quarterback AJ Swann via the transfer portal. Swann has notched 12 starts and has seen action in 15 games over his last two seasons in Nashville. An elbow injury left him sidelined for a big portion of the 2023 season but after a rough 2-10 season with the Commodores he looks for a fresh start in Baton Rouge.
Assuming Nussmeier will be the starter for the Tigers in 2024, Swann provides experience to a quarterback room that doesn't have much of it outside of Nussmeier himself. Ideally Swann will push Nussmeier and create a quarterback competition as LSU prepares for a grind of a 2024 schedule.
