LSU baseball was back at the Box!
The reigning national champion LSU Tigers started the 2024 season 4-0 with two wins over VMI and Central Arkansas. However, each game over the weekend was won in different ways and revealed different strengths and weaknesses of this team. First, LSU won a high-scoring, tightly contested game on Friday night after Thatcher Hurd gave up four runs in the third inning. The offense was able to carry the Tigers to victory on Friday night but Saturday was a different story. A low-scoring battle on a windy day in Baton Rouge, Alabama Crimson Tide transfer Luke Holman stepped up and proved why he was Alabama's ace last season. In LSU's 2-0 win, Holman tossed ten strikeouts in five innings while giving up only three hits in the process. The next day was a hit parade as LSU set a new team record with twenty singles, taking down VMI 27-5 in seven innings.
In football news, second year running back Trey Holly was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder. Holly has not been convicted of a crime and, according to his attorney, will plead not guilty in court. Holly responded to the charges and assured his innocence. What comes next for him and how is LSU involved, if at all?
