Description

The SEC will change the conference schedule once Texas and Oklahoma join the conference and it now looks like Greg Sankey and company will move forward with the 3-6 model: each team has three permanent rivals they play every year while the six remaining conference games will rotate yearly. There was much discussion, deliberation, and debate about how those permanent rivals will be constructed but the proposed rivals for LSU starting in 2024 will be the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ole Miss Rebels, and Texas A&M Aggies. Is that the best case scenario for LSU? While some fans may prioritize the easiest path to the SEC Championship or a College Football Playoff berth, why are the historic rivalries and marquis matchups good for LSU football?
Plus, LSU baseball scored the most runs in a single game since 2014 when the Tigers outscored Central Connecticut 26-4 Saturday night. The bats were electric all weekend long, one 12-2 win over Butler and another 13-0 win against Central Connecticut to go along with a historic Saturday afternoon. The LSU women's basketball team didn't have as much luck though, falling to the Tennessee Lady Vols 69-67 after giving up a 17 point lead in the second quarter.
