There have been many a debate in terms of whether the SEC would be moving toward a nine-game conference schedule in 2024, when Texas and Oklahoma join the conference. The resolution came yesterday, when we found out atleast for 2024, the SEC will be sticking with eight conference games. We know that Texas will be playing Michigan, Colorado State, UTSA and Oklahoma, and we will find out the remainder of their schedule will be on June 14th. The goal is to revisit this conversation in 2025, when Texas and Oklahoma can vote and the hope is to move to a nine conference game schedule in 2025. But atleast for the first year in 2024, the revival of the Lone Star Showdown between Texas and Texas A&M is in jeopardy, and without nine votes in 2025, the future of the Lone Star Showdown being played on an annual basis could be in jeopardy as well.
