Description

Camilla Fayed, the daughter of Mohamed Al-Fayed, launched a very successful restaurant in London called Farmacy kitchen (https://farmacylondon.com/), with a plant-based menu composed of many vegetables, fruits and herbs that are grown on her own biodynamic plot of land in Kent. This interview with Camilla Fayed really echoes that of Mark Hyman on Harvest Series, who laments the lack of nutrients in today's food. Camilla offers an answer to this, by refusing to put pesticides and chemicals in general in her plot, and we will see together that she also thinks on a bigger scale.Harvest is an event produced by Athena Advisers and Capital Partners[2:40] - Beginning of the interview. Camilla explains her menu for Harvest special day where she organised breakfast, lunch and dinner. [7:21] - Camilla is talking about her plot in Kent.[10:46] - Perry Khaldenby, Farmacy gardener, soil lab technician, and educator, explains what is microbiology and what's wrong with chemicals.[16:20] - Camilla answers about the scalability of growing food without chemicals.[17:41] - Camilla talks about Vananda Shiva, the author of Soil, not Oil[18:47] - What would she ask the British Prime minister?[19:50] - Can everybody afford organic food?[23:20] - Camilla and her culinary and business heritage, her diet, and why she is not eating meat or fish.[27:10] - Harvest of the Day: if something could be changed easily and would make the world a better place, what would she choose?Camilla and Perry were very proud to tell me some figures about the summer 2022's harvest on their acre plot, from May to August. Camilla says she could "feed a small town" : Cucumbers 168,5kg, kale: 330,4kg, lettuce: 725 heads, strawberries: 58,6kg,  tomatoes: 322,2kg.Camilla's book: Farmacy Kitchen Cookbook: Plant-Based recipes for a conscious way of life.Camilla is referring to Vandana Shiva, the Indian author of Soil, not Oil. Vandana Shiva inspired Camilla by founding the infrastructures for natural farming ways and trying to explain how it is scalable, even if contested by some economists. She is a food sovereignty advocate, ecofeminist, anti-globalisation and anti-GMO author of more than 20 books. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vandana_ShivaIn two weeks, we will release Idriss Aberkane's interview made in Kaplankaya, about education, and how to stimulate the pupils' brains through games, and even video games! We'll also talk about Artificial Intelligence, one of Idriss' favourite topics. Don't miss the episode!Sound editing by Alice Krief @lesbellesfrequencesTechnicians in Kaplankaya : Kerem Ozdemir and Burak GökçeArtwork by Pedro VidigalThe founders of Harvest Series are Burak Öymen and Roman CarelFollow us on Instagram: Harvestseries
